I was having a hard time avoiding several chores on my to-do list so I took a few moments to look at Facebook. As soon as I logged on, an announcement for "Giancarlo Stanton Bobblehead Night" appeared on my feed. Really...no joke.
I wasted NO time zooming straight to the comments. I was not disappointed.
Please note that, by dumb luck, I must have seen the Yankees post just a few moments after it appeared. By the time I opened my screen capture/editing program, etc., approximately 15 minutes had passed. Discerning IIH readers will see that all the comments below were made within 18 minutes of the initial Facebook post.
It seems that there are others who share the view of many here on IIHIIFIIc...
It's almost game time. Enjoy this weekend, friends.
UPDATE
I walked away, avoided some other chores, and then refreshed my Facebook page. The fun continues.
I wonder how long it will take before the Yankees delete this post.
Also: We need to recruit some of these guys to be commenters on IIHIIFIIc. Some of these are WAY inspired.
I am heartened by these comments. God bless Yankee fans.
ReplyDeleteI'm completely disheartened...
DeleteBunch of fickle morons
This is why everyone hates Yankees fans
That's pretty damned funny!

ReplyDeleteLeaving Stanton out of it (and I hope we can, at least for a while) -- the numbers show that Scary Gary has played in only 33 of the NYYs 49 games.
I don't know the team's W-L % in those games.
But the guy has driven in 31 runs in those. Season BA = .276, OBP = .350.
Yes, this is AFTER his visit to Camden Yards.....during which he did NOT start the final game. Not even as DH.
Yeah, BUT -- what about FIELDING, you ask? He's played 27 games behind the plate, with 4 PBs. Caught stealing 3, SB 13. Yeah, there are also 7 errors.
IMHO: The need to DH Gary (and Luke) on occasion -- and maybe The Major (once Didi is back), to get his bat into the line-up --is an awfully good argument for helping Stanton find new ways to injure himself. That approach sure as heck is working for Ellsberger.
...note that LeMaheiu is now at .324, 6th-highest BA in the AL. He's at 10 doubles, one behind Gleyber. Has scored 31 runs, two behind Luke.
Urshela doesn't have enough AB to qualify, but he'd be #2 or something in BA if he did.
ReplyDeleteWatching the game, quick 2-0 lead, and then...oh crap, it's Happ.
I love me some New Yorkers.
ReplyDeleteWe got the happy Happ instead of the crappy Happ. Looking snappy.
ReplyDeleteAnd just like that, Happ is crap. Lost that lead faster than Holder.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Happ told reporters after the game that he didn't feel bad about the homer because, hey, he threw it shoulder-high, and Merrifield just hit it. Then YES showed the actual pitch, which was letter-high and out over the plate.
ReplyDeleteCan't complain—another nice win. Bottom feeding, I know, but you gotta bottom feed to win it, and this is with our Second Line.
Speaking of Urshela—what a play at third! A great snag, and then a throw to first literally off his butt. Wow!
ReplyDeleteThat guy is going to be hard to sit down.
And hey: nice job cooling off Sanchez and Torres, Boone. The two of them were 0-9, with 5 Ks and an error between them. Yeah you don't want your guys hitting TOO well!
Typical dumbass Yankees fans.
ReplyDeleteThat comment section is embarrassing
I HOPE COOP GETS A GLIMPSE OF THE TWITTER PAGE TO SEE HOW THE FANS FEEL ABOUT HIS "STEAL" OF A DEAL.
ReplyDeleteSTANTON IS A DISASTER.
CAN'T HIT IN THE CLUTCH, CAN'T FIELD, CAN'T STAY ON THE FIELD.
ALL FOR ANOTHER 8 1/2 YEARS AND $200 MILLION.
COOP BETTER PUT HIS THINKING CAP ON AND DO WHATEVER HE HAS TO DO TO SHUTTLE THIS GUY OUTTA HERE BEFORE IT GETS "MAD" UGLY.
E-C, you could not be more wrong. That comment section is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteIt was an embarrassment... we have the worst fans
DeleteOh boo-fuckin'-hoo. Try spending some time in Philadelphia, you dink.
DeleteGreen. Damn it all.
ReplyDeleteYou rule, Winnie.
ReplyDeleteI want the Jake Ellsbury Glass Figurine bobblehead.
ReplyDeleteIn other good news, the Red Sox (that team with MLB's worst fans, those racist townie assholes) lost in the bottom of the ninth.
Whoever picked 108 wins for the Yankees is right on target so far.
EC, this is this site jumping up and down for joy, with a 7-game winning streak. You should see it when things get bad.
ReplyDeleteWe're brimming with love for most of our boys—did you SEE that Gio play? And he's an RBI machine.
Oh, I know, I know: the sabremetricious don't believe in fielding. Or RBI.
But what we're not going to do is say that black is white, or that Green don't stink as an "opener." And we don't like "superstars" who can't even get on the field to DH.
Great find, LBJ. Good to see that cynicism and sarcasm and general pissed-offishness among Yankee fans is not limited to IIHIIFIIc readers and writers.
ReplyDeleteJoe FOB is correct. Stanton needs to be permanently injured for the good of the team. His best days took place in South Florida, same place where A-Rod was visiting his special doctor. Coincidence?
@HC - Speaking of Urshela - Mike F on FAN compared Urshela to Clete Boyer as a fielder. Boyer was right up there with Brooks R. during the 60s as a fielder.
