The season begins tomorrow

The big-spending Redsocks have spotted us (and the Rays) seven games in the loss column.

In return, we'll play with five all-stars - Judge, Stanton, Severino, Gregorius, Betances - tied behind our backs.

After four games with big-spending Boston, we play the Blue Jays, Indians, Mets, White Sox, Rays and Astros. Only one tomato can (Toronto) in sight.

Everything starts tomorrow.

  2. Yep. Which is what you have to do. This completes a 40-game binge, in which the team went from 6-9 to 36-19, or 30-10.

    Blazing hot.

But get this: in order to match the high point of last season—50-22 on June 21st—the Yanks would have to go 14-3 over their next 17 games.

    Oy!

Still, then came the big drop-off, 50-40 the rest of the way. That's what we have to avoid.

  3. Just enjoy the games. It's early still -- we're at the 1/3 mark. A sweep either way will not decide the season.

...but I hope the Yankees win each game 16-1.

  4. I WANT TO SEE FRAZIER PLAY EVERY GAME THIS SERIES.

LET HIM PLAY THE OUTFIELD FOR BETTER OR WORSE.

IT'S TIME TO PLAY FULL THROTTLE.

    NO BULLSHIT.

IF HE DROPS A BALL, LEAVE HIM IN THERE.

HE NEEDS TO GET ACCLIMATED TO THE RIVALRY.

  5. All caps has it right on Frazier. Stop treating him like a leper and start building his confidence as the future star that he is.

  6. Amen! Let's see what this guy has. Time for the bozos in the media to stop thinking of him as trade bait, too.

That's all these guys think about: trade rumors they can plug. Every young player who is not already a star should be traded for every declining, aged pitcher who will of course pitch the team to a World Series title.

  7. Well it's been a blast to see these hungry guys play with hustle (just watch Voit out of the box on that triple today), passion and enthusiasm. So even if things come crashing back to earth in the next few weeks this has reminded me of the late 90's and watching an exciting young team coming together

  8. Agreed that Red Menace needs to play regularly, to develop his judgment - - but his dive on that should-have-been single (instead of blocking it in front of him) facilitated the winning run for the Pads yesterday...

Might it not be a better choice to play him in left field?? LB (No J)

  9. Frazier has a great arm, so right field is more logical. He'll be fine with some regular play. Remember he's still suffering from some wall phobia because of losing a year to a concussion--most of his recent errors have occurred as he was running toward a wall.

  10. Amen, Oasisdave! Even if this team collapses—and it may, especially because of the weak starting pitching—it's been so much more fun than most of last year.

  11. Also, I love "Red Menace" LB sans J. I move that this should be his official nickname on this site.

    Do I have a seconder?

  12. I don't think it's worth nick-naming a guy who probably will be traded for Bumison Madgardner.

  13. Also, are they really going to show Michael Kay's show all night?

Didn't The Hague rule that was a war crime?
