I think this is the pathetic display that many of us have been expecting and patiently waiting to happen. At this point why even trade for a quality starter. Just one isn't going to cut it
The Yankee pitching staff has given up 53 runs in the last six games--the most for a six-game interval in team history. With the mound corps hemhorraging runs like this, the question arises: Is the position of Yankee pitching coach just a job, or is an endowed chair with lifetime tenure?
This is a joke and it is what it is. We could have a rotation that include Keuchel, Corbin and even Verlander if Hal wasn't such a penny pitching sack of..... Well you know what. Instead we will be forever also rans. Even if we somehow make it to the Series LA would pulverize the current starters
To interject a moment: Checked the standings this morning. Despite the starters being worth less than half a roll of toilet paper, the NYYs have a 10-game lead in the loss column.
....NYYs are 66 and 37. Dodgers are 68 and 37. Those are the 2 best records in MLB right now. Astros (66 and 39) are 3rd.
Checked my memory. Just b/c we lost the first 2 to the Redsox does not mean we're going to lose the next two. In fact, it's not a very smart way to bet. I was alive for the 1996 World Series. Game One: Atlanta 12, NYYs 1. Game Two: Atlanta 4, NYYs 0. Lots of laughter at me and. my NYYs hat. Both games in the Bronx...BUT (and it's a damn big butt)...who won the Series 4 games to 2??? Who laughed last?
Checked the schedule. After Boston, there are 2 games with AZ, 4 in NY with the Sox again, followed by 7 in a row on the road vs Bawlmore and Tonto (followed by 3 in NY with Bawlmore). I could easily see a record of 10-and-6 in those 16 games; couldn't you? Might be better, even.
Yeah, losing sucks. But maintain an even strain!!! There is a reason to do that: It's a 162-game regular season.
NOW: If you asked me what the past week of horrid pitching means for the playoffs, I'd start quaking in my boots. If I had any boots.

ReplyDeleteThis is awful. And who among our starters will be the stopper?

ReplyDeletePerhaps this is what happens when your pitching coach and your owner have same level job security

ReplyDeleteFuck you Hal.
I LOVE YOUR OPTIMISM JOE FORMERLY....
ReplyDelete....BUT YOU ARE FORGETTING ONE THING.
CC PITCHES TODAY, (IN FENWAY).
THIS IS PRECISELY THE REASON I BLEW A GASKET WHEN WE SIGNED HIM RIGHT AWAY THIS PAST OFF SEASON.
HE CAN'T BEAT BOSTON ANYMORE.
ACTUALLY, HE IS HAVING TROUBLE BEATING ANY DECENT TEAM.
