Yanks ditch Miggy

BREAKING HORROR:

To shrink their roster to 28, the Death Star is disappearing Miguel Andujar, Thairo Estrada and Nick Nelson. They'll head to Scranton to - I dunno - to do whatever vanished human beings do in Scranton, like go carousing in Wilkes Bare.

As a backup to backup Tyler Wade, Estrada wasn't seeing game time. He was sure to go.

A surprise in the early going, Nelson was undressed, defrocked and be-diddled by the Phillies yesterday. By the time he was pulled, his bus ticket had been purchased.

But Miggy? WTF? How can they do this to Miggy? Apparently, the Yanks are screwing the guy, contractually.

  1. Miggy needs more at bats but Hicks has a seven-year contract and Gardy must play every day possible as a regular, instead of the backup he should be.

Meanwhile, Sanchez sucks. Just awful. But a lot of egos invested in him. And hype.

Obviously, more than Miggy has. He was great in 2018 and missed a year. Torres was great last year. Recency bias might be at play.

And we still carry a lot of shit pitchers who clog up the roster.

    Same as it ever was.

  2. My $0.02:

We have a regular merry-go-round in left field, and no good reason for it. I get resting guys like Hicks coming off surgery, but rest? Now? It's time to start thinking magic number and getting what's left of our rotation in line for the playoffs. If they actually occur.

I still think Clint belongs in left, with Tauchman as his late inning relief.

Hicks can alternate with Gardner in center. I still don't buy Gardner with a bat in his hands. Even if those three hits were dingers. The other seventeen weren't so hot.

Angel Hernandez makes a solid argument for an electronic strike zone. He took us out of that game with those fucking bullshit calls. Thank you Phil Nevin.

  3. Oh, and this just in:

Aaron Boone says that no DJ LeMahieu in the lineup and no Aaron Judge is just a day off for both players with another doubleheader coming up in Tampa.

These guys have had four months off. Why the fuck do they need rest? "Boss, I've just come back from a four-month vacation and I need a day off." I don't believe it. Boone should be in an all-hands-on-deck mode until Thanksgiving.

Big game tonight for Montgomery. We need something large from him. And BTW, where is Clarke Schmidt? Did he not seem to be ready way back in February?

  4. Tauchman just keeps producing. Put him in center, put Miggy in left because he's the future. Use Gardy and Hicks to spell them, a lot. Also have somebody spell Judge.

This doesn't seem like rocket science. The Yanks have a lot of players, and they have a lot of players who get hurt a lot. Give them some time off.

  5. What drives me crazy about this, though, is Cashman but also the basic set-up of baseball today.

The two most potentially exciting players on the Yankees roster right now have vanished into the Twilight Zone, so that we can see more of Luis Cessa.

Yes, he's back. That's baseball today, and not just in the corona season. Much of the best talent is stuck spinning its wheels in the minors so that we can all watch an endless succession of mediocre, middle relievers.

These idiots are killing the game.

  9. My condolences Horace. Apparently the reports of your death have not been premature.

  10. I’ve been looking ahead to the September schedule: 24 games in 25 days will be the death of many teams. I can’t imagine the pitching staff will survive such a debacle. But then again, who else will?

  13. Very sad to see. Truly, a Yankee who got a bum rap. Funny name, funny looking (especially to white sportswriters), played for mediocre teams.

    Sez me.
