Britton and Peralta on the 10 day

Thank God we could call up Kriske and Abreu to replace them.

We're doomed.

  1. Now THAT’S how the Yankees roll.

  2. John and Suzyn just told the story of Ruth pitching a complete game shutout against the Red Sox in September 1930. He hadn't pitched since being on the Sox in 1919.

    Amazing.

  3. Monty has been as uninspiring as he has been unlucky so far.

  4. John and Suzyn occasionally exaggerate.

    Found while googling:

11 certifiable idiots did not vote for Babe Ruth for the hall of fame.

I guess he didn't sell peanuts between innings.

  5. The game Ruth pitched is legit.

Monty is just a victim today. Dumb shift, lucky hits, nothing substantial. But too many pitches as a result. The walks haven't helped.

Facing Cy "Big Train" Eovaldi is obviously more than any major league batter can handle.

  6. JM,

Babe did pitch a complete game, but gave up 3 runs. Also had pitched for the Yankees in '20 & '21 a few times. Amazing anyway.

Would love to know the reasoning behind 11 people not voting for him in the HOF.

  7. They wanted Home Run Baker.

How could Suzyn get that wrong? Or was is Candy Maldonado or Fillipelli?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Another DP. 73.

Renfro hits a dribbler against the shift and gets a hit. Fucking statboys.

  9. 74. Tied with Houston for most.

If only we scored as many runs as they do.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thank god that strong armed center fielder kept that to a single.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Cough.

Monty got screwed. He really pitched very well. The Sox runs were mostly bullshit.

  12. This team is painful to watch. I don't really hate the players. It's more the management, on and off field.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yep. I agree.

But no hitting. That's really just terrible.

    4-0. No way.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Strong armed center fielder shows some glove.

    They still scored.

  15. It's cooling off here. Down to 108.

  16. Why Boone keeps playing Gardner is impossible to fathom.

    ReplyDelete
  17. They are just toying with us now. I hate them for getting my hopes up. Fool me a thousand times -- really shame on me.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Can someone please remind me when/how/why we got rid of Eovaldi, and who (or what) did we get in return? Magic beans? (I now I can Google this but I'd rather hear your answers.)

  19. "Second" tommy john surgery.

After the Yankees had already paid for an unproductive year.

    Can't blame them.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I always have. Thought it was mistake at the time. Knew he would be ok.

But, no stats to back me up. Just gut. Doesn't count anymore.

  21. JM,

Closing on a top floor condo in Waikiki this week. Come visit if you want to see really nice weather.

    ReplyDelete
  22. There are plenty more Eovaldi's the Yankees did keep that were disasters.

I'm more upset about guys like Verlander that were get-able except for alligator arms HAL.

  23. Ah, Hawaii. I was there once for a few days for work years ago. Continental was a client and they wanted a creative team to experience their first class service to Hawaii.

Got a stay over at a Beverly Hills Hotel bungalow due to a booking mixup. Then got to Wakiki and our luggage wasn't there. Turns out it was sent to Guam. So I bought a lot of stuff and expensed it. Fun times.

  25. Did get to see Don Ho. What a trip. He seemed to be drunk, but the cavernous room full of tightly packed gray hairs didn't care.

    I loved it.

  26. And the wahines are not so bad either.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Top eighth getting interesting...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Gorgeous.

Bases loaded and O coming in. This is it.

My ex wife gave me The Story of O when we were going out. Mercy. She did not disappoint.

  29. Don Ho:

Ho married twice and had ten children by three women.

You can't download his music legally because all parties are still fighting over his estate even though he died in 2007.

    You'll never find this one:

  30. Otto is a traitor as far as I'm concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  31. He didn't pitch like that last year...Otto was a horror show...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Bases loaded on three consecutive walks - What could possibly go wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Funny song.

Yankees didn't cash in. Game over.

    ReplyDelete
  34. This shit with John and Suzyn not going to the games is just unconscionable.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hey - Mr. 107°: you in 92262? We my have more in common than you ever thought.

  36. Vacation in Palm Springs. Usually every year around now. Last year, of course, no.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Stanton lost due to the pinch runner, and we get Odor? Jesus Christ.

    ReplyDelete
  38. And Gardner comes up and no PH? Wtf?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Boone outsmarts hisself most nights.

HAL likes it as long as flaming fans.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Number 0 can't find the plate.

    ReplyDelete
  41. That sucked once again.

At least I can give up on the season now.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm going to dinner. Fucking Yankees.

    ReplyDelete
  43. EXTREMELY intelligent way to approach trade season: “Trying to make trades is always difficult, no matter who your targets are,” Cashman said. “I just hope whatever we can run into, it’s going to be beneficial to us.”

    ReplyDelete
  44. Just to confirm the invincible stupidity of Boone: this incompetent fraud sent up Odor to pinch-hit for Miguel Andujar in a key spot in the top of the ninth, even though Odor is hitting EVEN WORSE against righties than against lefties, and even though Andujar is hitting MUCH BETTER against righties than against lefties: in other words, both players are hitting THE REVERSE of usual platoon splits. Here are the relevant slash lines:

    Odor against righties (BA/OBP/SLG/OPS)
    .206/.280./.374/.653

    Andjuhar against righties:
    .303/.325/.474/.799

Only a staggeringly incompetent IMBECILE would make this move. And the next time anyone complains that the Yankee management team over-relies on stats and analytics, laugh in his face.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Didn't watch the game (thank goodness).

Thing is, though: it wasn't so bad getting rid of Eovaldi. It was bad getting rid of him for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

This is what kills me about Cashman.

Sure, get rid of Sonny Gray. And what did we get back? NOTHING.

What did we get for Roger Clemens? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

    How about Pettitte? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

    And David Wells? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

And on and on. You can't really even get upset about it anymore. This is what Cashie does, and anything he does is okay because HAL says it is. Whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  46. One can only hope that Hal has a miraculous seizure of good sense and replaces Cashman with a brainy pro BEFORE the trade deadline so Cashman can't do any further damage to this franchise.

  47. Woke up early to read anon's post about the Miggy/Odor stat splits.

What the F does Boone have to do to get his ass fired? Sleep with Nevin?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Stick with MILB. They hustle and are good to boot. And Boone has not served them up yet.

  49. RailRiders are the best team in the organization. Has been that way for years. Nobody, and I mean nobody, puts together a better AAA roster than Brian Cashman. First ballot International League Hall of Famer. Someday, Scranton's going to put a statue of him in front of their stadium.
