The first mate he got drunk And broke in the Cap'n's trunk The constable had to come and take him away Sheriff John Stone Why don't you leave me alone, yeah yeah Well I feel so broke up I wanna go home
They finally bring up Gil. In a move that would have been correct a month ago.
Now it's just brainless mistaking action for progress. Too little, too late. Rizzo will probably be benched tomorrow because he had 2 hits and needs the rest. And Voit had some really good swings so we'll stay with the hot hand.
So...why is it that Tampa, with a payroll 4 times less than the Yankees lead all of MLB in runs scored per game and are one of the top best teams in ERA in the AL?
Fuck the pool—I honestly think this Yankees team will now have trouble reeling in those last 4 wins for a winning record. With their ace—and the only guys with balls on this team—gone, I think they will completely deflate.
I knew this was not going to go well when Matz was struggling in the first and they couldn't get to him. I turned it off right there.
Since the 13-game win streak ended, NYYs are 2-7. Four of those losses saw the team score 0,1, or 2 runs. AND: The other 3 of the losses were by one run (in which they scored 7 runs, 3 runs, and 7 runs).
Other than an abysmal performance, this seems to be another example of "reversion to the mean." And of course -- suckification.
Cole’s injury is Cashman’s dream come true - no longer are the failures of this abysmal team his fault - if only Cole had stayed healthy we would be in rhe Series.
Dude has an ironclad excuse to spin, to explain his failures. My conspiracy theorist side is wondering what he offered Cole to get him to sit out with an injury. As pathetic as this team is - and you all know who I’m talking about - I can’t blame Cole for taking a pass. Everyone but the AAA players stopped playing months ago.

Anyone have a sharp stick handy?
ReplyDeleteFiddle dee dee. Surely it's just a blister or an ingrown fingernail or a mild masturbation strain, right? RIGHT?
ReplyDeleteThe fat lady has sung. We are on to 2022 and hopefully find some more .200 hitters and pitchers who haven’t thrown a ball in 2 or more years.
ReplyDelete129--the magic number.
ReplyDeletePerhaps we can start to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1971 Yanks.
ReplyDeleteA grand batch of Yanks from our youth. Murcer, Munson, White, Stott, Stick, to name just a few.
Back when being above .500 meant something to us and visions of WS danced in our juvenile minds.
Can you really think of that team and not smile?
Glory Days
The Nostalgic Archangel
ReplyDeleteA blister or a UCL tear I wonder what it will be knowing our luck it is probably the latter as his last pichi was 95mph
The pre & post WS years. Don’t forget Fritz Peterson, Steve Kline and the immortal Jake Gibbs
ReplyDeleteLeft hamstring "tightness."
ReplyDeleteBooth says tight hamstring. I'll bet he's done for September.

ReplyDeleteThat was in another thread. I don't have control. If I did I would have deleted it.
I want to go home. I want to go home. This is the worst trip I've ever been on.
ReplyDeleteNo abuse. From anyone. Except if it's heaped on Hal. Brain, and Boone. Baseball only.
ReplyDeleteAnother lifeless loss coming.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't hey let me go home? This is the worst trip I've ever been on.
ReplyDeleteThe first mate he got drunk
ReplyDeleteAnd broke in the Cap'n's trunk
The constable had to come and take him away
Sheriff John Stone
Why don't you leave me alone, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up I wanna go home
Winnie, this is worse than the brown acid.
ReplyDeleteWorse than a Taylor Swift medley.
Season is over...Yanks aren't winning tonight or tomorrow...

Maybe if they get swept and get swept by the muts, Bonehead and Brainless will be gone.
ReplyDeleteNaw, they'll just sign ICS to an 8 year contract in the offseason to make a big splash.
The guy who won't play tomorrow is Velaquez because "Gleyber is our SS"
ReplyDeleteDoug K.
Seamus Heaney!!
ReplyDeleteWho gets more starts between now and the end of the year?
ReplyDeleteCole or Severino?
Oh goody!
ReplyDeleteDoug K, I stand corrected.
ReplyDeleteWTF! Why?????? I'd rather see El Chapo.
ReplyDeleteDoug K.
For me to win the case of Utica Club, the Yankees only have to go 21-3 for the rest of the year.
ReplyDelete"So, you're saying there's a chance?!"
So...why is it that Tampa, with a payroll 4 times less than the Yankees lead all of MLB in runs scored per game and are one of the top best teams in ERA in the AL?
ReplyDelete2 reasons: Cashman and management.
Nothing else.
Is that the first 1-2-3 for Mr. Haney since he was traded? It sure seems like it.
ReplyDeleteIt was a no pressure situation for him.
ReplyDeleteDoug K
8 singles and 1 run.
ReplyDeleteFuckers.
Winnie,
ReplyDeleteThere is just so so much wrong with this team.
Doug K.
I would gladly go through the brown acid if it meant I'd wake up with Cashman having been fired and Hal having been thrown into Mount Hekla.
ReplyDeleteWell the torture is done for today.
ReplyDeleteIt was efficient torture, unlike, say, Sunday's four-hour session.
ReplyDeleteFuck the pool—I honestly think this Yankees team will now have trouble reeling in those last 4 wins for a winning record. With their ace—and the only guys with balls on this team—gone, I think they will completely deflate.

This team isn't even fun to hate anymore.
The Yankees now have 0 walks and 0 extra-base hits in back-to-back games for the first time since June 1962.
ReplyDeleteLike pretty puzzle pieces put together with a hammer...
ReplyDeleteToo bad the current Yankees aren't as good as that team.
ReplyDeleteNo words, just no words
ReplyDeleteI've seen this movie. "Plan Nine from Outer Space". Cashman is Ed Wood, Hal is Bela Lugosi.
