Even when he makes the right move, everybody hates Aaron Boone

Today, he intentionally walked Miguel Cabrera in the eighth, choosing to a lefty-on-lefty matchup. The next Tiger doubled, scoring two runs, the feeble Yankees lost 3-0, and everybody left the park booing Boonie.

Still... he did get in the best postgame zinger:

“Miggy was jawing at me after I called for the walk. I told him we’re even. He cost me a World Series in 2003, so now he can sleep on 2,999.”

  1. I blame Leutge.

He gets the batter to hit a weak come-back ground ball to the mound for an easy 1,2,3 double play. Clearing first base. Allowing Boone to show his managerial skills. " Let's walk Miguel" and set up a force out.

    Rapidly turning 1-0 into 3-0.

By the way, Hicks was playing too deep. Locastro gets to that ball.

Nice work all around . Boonie.

  2. The outfielders seemed badly positioned all day.

  3. Booooooooone said post-game that he liked the lefty on lefty matchup with Meadows, yet he brought Lukas in to face the three righties who batted before him. So much for his brilliant strategy. What a useless and disingenuous POS.

Walking Miggy was a bush league move. A real no-class act.

  4. Mid week getaway day game in Detroit after they'd won the first two games of the series? For all this highly paid group of professionals cared about this one, it's a wonder they wore the proper uniforms.

  5. Does Boonie even notice such details (like where the outfielders are positioned)? He is always over there slouching by the rail, furiously masticating something or other….

  6. Wezil1, he's masticating his pride. Cash told him to swallow it.

  7. Cash was carving up Boonie’s testicles with a knife and fork.

  8. Our manager continues on a pace to cause more losses than even last year. Who says the Yankees aren't making progress?
