1968 Yankees, lowest team batting average since 1900: .214
BUT...that team had to let the pitchers hit. In 450 plate appearances, our hurlers batted all of .090, thereby lowering the regulars' average from a lofty .224. Or...more than your Three True Outcomes Yankees are averaging today.
The total slash line on those non-pitchers that year:
I enjoyed watching and listening to the 1968 Yankees more than this team. Of course I was 13 and had my whole life ahead of me and just believed that someday the Yankees would win a WS in my lifetime.
I don't think that I can say that I will see another World Championship in my lifetime.
I know one thing for certain, When my life flashes before my eyes when my time comes, nothing from the -Cashman-Boone-Hal era of the Yanks will be shown
Just wretched . How about that Judge. ALL Rise and Hurl.
Juju Gods punished us today for intentionally walking Cabrera in the 8th on his last opportunity in the game for 3K. Next up Austin Meadows broke the scoreless tie with his RBI hit, which was more than enough against this anemic offense.
I do not hate Boone. I call him Kumbaya. He is there to sell you the B.S. and does a fine job of that. He is there to ware out the bullpen. He is there to tell you that Joey K. is having good at bats and that Cole looks good.

Never listen to gamecast on ESPN.com. It's DJ, Gallows, and Falafel.
ReplyDeleteIn the Bizarro universe, DJ whiffs, Gallows get a hit, and Falafel hits into a DP.
ReplyDeleteAnother day, another loss.
I hereby take back all my hopeful words in the previous post.
ReplyDelete3-3 road trip vs. the mighty Orioles and Tigers
ReplyDeleteAmazing. Third shutout in first 13 games. Second in 4 games, to lousy pitching staffs.
ReplyDeleteWith the game-ending DP, the Yanks once again pull even in HRs-DPs.
Gallo still without an extra-base hit on the season. Though yes, he did get an opposite-field single.
2022 Yankees team batting line
ReplyDelete.220/.301/.342 (.643 OPS)
Chris Carter before being DFAed in 2017
.201/.284/.370 (.653 OPS)
I'll do you one better, Zach.

I will amend that, I will see LeM, and Nasty Nester just for one brief moment.
ReplyDeleteThen Gallo and Stanton will swing and whoosh the mists away.
Suppose Judge has a mediocre year (for him), say 25 hr’s, 70 ribs , .260. Does anybody offer him multiple years at 30m? Do we?

ReplyDeleteWhen Meadows came to bat the Tigers were already ahead 1-0
