Just for the hell of it, if the season ended today...
The Yankees and Astros would get a first-round bye.
Toronto would play Tampa Bay, and Minnesota would play Boston, in two best-of-three series.
The Yankees would play the winner of Tampa/Toronto in a five-game series. Houston would get the winner of Twins/Redsocks.
A long, long way from here...
Already, we're screwed! Is there no justice in this world!
ReplyDeleteIf we have the better record why do we draw the tougher opponent? Shouldn't we be playing the winner of Minn/Bos?
ReplyDeleteoh, hoss --post away and thanks again
ReplyDeleteDuque, we want to know: did Michael Anthony get in touch about Carl? He could be our next millionaire.
ReplyDeleteAnd Doug, isn't there an 8th grade reading assignment that applies to this early playoff situation? If you're a Red Sox fan, I'd suggest Bleak House, but that's a bit advanced for 8th grade.
No problem, Doug! And I suspect that the thinking is, the other bracket involves the third division winner. So, theoretically, it would be:
ReplyDeleteNYY vs. Pure Wild-Card Bracket winner
Hous. vs. Div. Winner-Wild Card Bracket winner
In reality, of course, it would mean we would get the winner of Tor-TB, while Hous. would get Minn-Bos.
But hey, a long way until October!
MLB’s long-deferred dream of ensuring a .500 team makes it to the post-season is closer & closer to finally being fulfilled.
ReplyDeleteI can see that the JuJu gods have sent you all out onto the open sea in a boat whose hull consists of Saran Wrap and wax paper.
ReplyDeleteWait a while. Just wait...
Mark my words.
ReplyDeleteNext thing you know you'll be talking about a magic number to clinch. This is not good.
