The Yankees play the Red Sox this Friday. The game is only available on Apple TV. What if Judge breaks the record that night and none of us are able to see it?
Granted it would be fitting to show just how screwed up it is to exclude so many fans from a game, especially this late in the season.
Even worse the broadcast team that calls the game won't be Kay or Cone, or Paulie, it will be those Gen X kids.
ReplyDeletemlb.tv with WFAN audio overlay.
ReplyDeleteBad part: requires subscription (although cheaper than appletv), and you'll have to actually be or at least pretend to be no where near the northeast. (https://www.hide-my-ip.com/, bratislava has a good bouncer feed. Recommend doing it only for the browser you're watching the game on - otherwise it will slow down everything, including comments here.)
Apple TV is five bucks a month. It’s worth it for half a dozen great shows anyway, but just cancel after the first month, otherwise
ReplyDeleteAnd listen to John and Suzyn, who will have the call first anyway.
Doug - alternatively you can head over to your local APPLE store and pretend to be a very indecisive customer trying to decide on what product to buy that has the best refresh rate so you can enjoy sports and gaming content on.
ReplyDeleteI'll be listening to The Master and Suzyn, I wouldn't miss his excitement over this event for anything,,,
ReplyDeleteThe Master has spoken:

mlb.tv syncs the masters audio. It *is* behind by a few seconds.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I hate mlb.monopoly, I like having the master synced.
Your results may vary.
side note: Boston stations are in full pearl-clutching mode over Judge breaking the record against the carmines.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful to watch.
I’m very happy John Sterling is going to Canada with the team. During the Yankees summer slump, John was not traveling with the team. He was clearly the missing ingredient. Every time he walks down the charter plane aisle to the shitter, he mutters Bunt as he passes Boone. John Sterling Must Manage Boone Better if we have any chance of going anywhere.
ReplyDeleteRicky Ricardo HAS to make that record breaking call
ReplyDeleteSure I suppose we can watch it out of Gdansk or somewhere, or pony up the $5 because it's easy (even if we shouldn't have to) but there are , I don't know 5,000,000 Yankee fans who aren't going to do that.
ReplyDeleteAnd it sucks for them. And it sucks to watch the Apple Kids get the broadcast.
Ricky will, in Spanish, on WADO.
ReplyDeleteWhen one of the dull corporate baritones fills in for John, listen to Ricky. Don't even need Spanish. You'll pick it up quick, and a great listening experience, Wendy's ads and all.
ReplyDeleteRicky’s greatest home run call was for Gregorius. He did this di-di-di-di-di-di-di arpeggio. It’s great.
ReplyDeleteUmm ... I know this kinda makes me a traitor, but I have Apple TV.
ReplyDeleteYou all better bring the beers if you're coming over. I got the wine and spirits covered.
Winny - what are the…uh, wine and spirits covered with?
ReplyDeleteAs a disciple of Steve Jobs, I applaud you, Winnie.
ReplyDeleteI have Apple, but not sure why. Some kind of free trial? Or perhaps my wife, with her Byzantine maze of free deals and inexplicable quid pro quos has secured it for the duration. I will ask, but it will run the risk of YT being roped into cleaning out the garage, which would rival Hercules cleaning the Aegean stables, except I ain’t no Hercules. Maybe Stanton will be free this weekend to come over and help?
ReplyDeleteThe end of days
ReplyDeleteI won't root for Aaron's record being missed by most fans. But it would be a magnificent stain on the Manfred era. But no. But yes. But no.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, I laid my hand upon my palantir, and it clearly showed that Judge will hit #62 Thurs night on FOX.
ReplyDeleteOn the downside, Sauron is massing his armies in Poughkeepsie and will take Manhattan using the Circle Line.
At least the Yankees won't be wearing "City Connect" unis. I assume.
ReplyDeleteThis is all too sublime.
ReplyDeleteI'll listen on the radio as I did in'61 and imagine the flight of the record breaking shot.
But, of course, it will be high-itwiillbefar- it will be caught😱
Hey, it works out for all of us that don’t pay for cable🤷🏻♂️ Apple TV costs less than the regional sports fee on your bill
ReplyDeleteBuy an IPTV streaming box ( about $300) and you'll get all the premium, sports channels and movies for free with never any other fees or charges. Or subscribe to an IPTV service for a small monthly fee (usually around $ 20.00) and get the same services as the streaming box. You'll never miss any show or sports.
