Clint Frazier changed his name but not his swing, and his future is murky

The Cubs are done with him, and he with them.

Damn. I had him penciled in as a future great Yankee.

Greg Bird. Gary Sanchez. Miguel Cabrera. Tyler Wade. Aaron Hicks. Luke Voit. Mike Tauchman. Billy McKinney. Clint Frazier (now "Jackson" Frazier.)

Who knew that, after all is done, Brigadoon Refsnyder was The Keeper?

  1. And don't forget Mike Ford, though he's still holding on in LA. Or Thairo Estrada. Or the Tylers, Wade and Kepner. Or Chance Adams.

    Sigh.

  3. I guess the name change to Jackson didn't work out. Maybe he could change his name to Sadaharu and go play in Japan.

  4. You cannot, I have been told - for many years mind you, predict baseball.

  5. I feel badly for Frazier. He's a tormented jerk, but he was our jerk and had such potential. His being a jerk would have been fine if he was killin' the ball. Fun even. "What a head case, but did you see those balls he ripped into the gap!?" But he suffered a severe concussion. We'll never know how much that messed him up. And then there is the vaunted Yankee development team. I think we're all certain how much further they effected/affected/messed him up. Few prospects will make it, many fewer still will be stars. Jeters are once in a lifetime. The vaunted Yankee development team is there to ensure as few make it as possible. Perhaps none again in the dregs of our lifetimes.

  6. I feel bad for him. He has a lot of promise, but he ran into too many walls that were not properly padded for that kind of highly predictable injury. He was not a great fit for the Yankees to begin with (isn't everyone these days?) and repeated blows to the head only worsened his problems.

And - like so many young people - he was consumed by social media, in ways us pre-cell phone elders can scarcely imagine. Too bad mentoring is not a thing any more. He's a kid that truly needed a senior ballplayer to keep him on the safer side of the street.

  7. Frazier jumped the shark a long time ago.

Let me know when he announces his retirement and he's joining the UFC tour.

  9. Prospect-huggers beware. Lookin at you, Duque.

  10. Bizarre redhead, just look at Prince Harry. Every year fans latch on to prospects then blame management if failure strikes. Baseball is fucking hard!!!
