RIP, Sal Durante

At 80 years of age. Very sweet story in the NY Post about it. And what a picture of Durante catching Maris's 61st! I have never seen that before. A one-handed, barehanded grab, with another guy's hand in his face—not bad!

A class act, as was Roger.

  1. Yes - that was indeed a wonderful little story.

It almost looks as though the guy next to Durante is holding a cigarette in Durante's mouth as he catches the ball.

And it gives a great reminder of the way humans age when you compare Durante's face in the 2011 shot to the others . . .

  2. Slow day/night here in LOVE/HATE Yankeevile.

Only a matter of time before the sky starts falling with the deGrom signing . . . .

    But hey.....

I'm just a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more.
