Rufus, you realize that you forced me to Google Sidd Finch. You're not on their payroll, are you? Which would be fine, I just hope you got the half-cent they promised.
I’ll forego comment on ‘Stang’s pic, other than ro say I’m glad it wasn’t a Yankee Uni.
Hix “feeling good”, could “come off the bench” said boone. Since it’s Boone, an extra large grain of salt (think Australia) is required.
Weissert down, Garcia up. Weissert has electric stuff, but lack of control dooms him at this level. In the minors, seems like guys will hack away at anything, but MLB hitters have a more refined approach. Garcia seems to have moved up from downright awful to woefully inconsistent. I guess they would bring him in if a starter gets torched early to mop up some innings.
Severino starting his rehab a month late today. At this point, no need to baby him or even be concerned about overuse. His last contract cost 55M with little return. Throw him out there, ride him hard , then dump him.

JM, yeah it’s tough to keep track of all the overhyped washouts, especially the pitchers, but I recall Garcia being the #1 pitching prospect a few years ago. He served as an opener (when that nonsense was a thing) in a 2020 post season game. The most common narrative seemed to be that the coaches “ruined” him by changing his pitch selection. More likely, just another example of Baseball’s Peter Principle, where prospects do well against lower competition and are promoted to the level where they no longer can compete. C’est la vie.
Maybe, but I wouldn't rule out the "coaches ruined him" scenario. I still remember Monty in an interview, speaking glowingly about how the Yanks' coaches had added 5 mph to his fastball.

Their new ace.
ReplyDeleteStang(le) - Welcome back with a perfect post.
ReplyDeleteNew star of "The Housewives of Cell Block D."
ReplyDeleteE. D. That must mean that Trumps’ in the hole….
ReplyDeleteAnd about the Yankees, whose sad 20-17 record has them in last place, 9 games out.
ReplyDeleteIn the Central, we'd be in first by half a game.
In the West, we'd be tied for second, two games out.
In the NL East, we'd be in second, 5.5 games out.
In the NL Central, we'd be in third (half a game out of second), a game out.
In the NL West, we'd be in third (half a game out of second), two games out.
Maybe the Hal/Cashman/Boonie triumverate is doing great, we just have to move the franchise to Topeka or Santa Fe.
Don't they wear stripes in prison?
ReplyDeleteI missed that line on his resume where he was the Sidd Finch of his generation.

ReplyDeleteYes, but it was in South Korean won currency.
ReplyDeleteSidd Finch was a great American success story. Totally bullshit, like our friend the distinguished congressman.

Wasn't Deivi our electrifying young flamethrower who was destined to be the next Yankees ace?
ReplyDeleteOr was that German? It's so confusing...

ReplyDeleteHe was next seen 2 1/2 years later.
What a battery of Santos and Sanchez..two frauds…
ReplyDeleteDo these games against the A’s count in the standings?
ReplyDeleteAsking for a friend…
bTr 999 - only if we score over ten runs in the last game of the series
ReplyDeleteTBH, the A’s are an embarrassment. Team ERA is almost 8!!!! The fact that MLB tolerates this shitshow is also an embarrassment.
