Maybe, just maybe they’ll miss the playoffs. In a format where even mediocre teams make, maybe that will trigger some kind of a shakeup, even a minor one.

So glad that I have so many other things to do with my extended family that I caught less that two total innings of this trip back to the late 60's. I have n't read the boxscores yet, did Lindy McDaniel pitch? Did Frank Fernandez catch the second game?
On a lighter note I did get to see one of Stanton's ABs where he struck out and my brother-in-law, whose son also played college ball, stated " He really hasn't been good since the Marlins traded him,.They must have known things." See, even a Reds fan from Western Ohio knows more than Cashman.
In perusing the MILB boxscores, I was happy to see that Bader did not play, so he will be well rested when they activate him later this week. Good thing that we didn't need him in yesterday's DH.
I well remember when he won Opening Day, 1968, with a home run against the Angels.
That year, Frankie—Staten Island's own—had a split, in 51 games of .170/.341/.385/.726. In 1969, he played 89 games for us and went .223/.399/.415/.814.
Unacceptable, right? Before the 1970 season, he went to Oakland as part of the Danny Cater trade.
How does he compare with our catchers this season?

Don't understand what you are complaining about. We had two, count 'em two, run-scoring at-bats in as many games! Both in the first inning.

I mean, c'mon guys: 9 hits in 18 innings!
Best thing to be said for those games: they were in Boston.
