"Sign Judge to a long-term deal." Judge is 30 years old. As a celebrated sage once noted, history repeats itself: the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce.
I really hate bringing in guys who are coming off recent injuries. Especially pitchers coming off recent shoulder problems. Another doozy by Cashman.
@Celerino Sanchez, yep, Clarke Schmidt or J.P. Sears could've done that, for a lot less money too.
@Barney, We probably won't have to worry about cheapskate HAL signing Judge to a long term deal. Somebody will swoop in with a colossal mega-offer, and HAL probably won't come close to matching. As far as next year, that might be a good thing for the Yankees, because chances are that Judge will be injured most of next year, with only 20 homers. Big year in walk year, followed by lousy year first year of new contract. Happens a lot.

Can Brian Cashman handle general managing in New York? He might perform a lot better in a smaller market.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the Mexican Dirt League.
ReplyDeleteIt is hype, it is farce, it is ... naught.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't wish that on Mexico, Rufus.
Dick,
ReplyDeleteDon't think they'll be upset.
They'll make a mint charging him for toilet paper.
...by the square.
ReplyDeleteI will now and forever be a Yankee fan - even after the 2022 lobotomy.
ReplyDeletePlease do not ask me why the lobotomy may be required.
WAIT A MINUTE!
I don't really want a lobotomy!
I just want the Yankees to WIN.
WIN WIN WIN!
Sign Judge to a long term deal.

ReplyDeleteAs of today, the Yankees and the Mets have identical won-loss records as they pass each other in opposite directions.

ReplyDeleteIf Cashman didn't have 200m a year to spend he'd be a janitor somewhere. Devi Garcia could have given you the same effort yesterday.
