I bailed in the 8th inning after Volpe's HR got turned into a double. I had to get up at 5 for a meeting and yet another pathetic post season performance by the Tankees (not a typo) did not justify staying to the end.
But while the fans and the players will not get to enjoy the sweet taste of victory, Hal, Randy, Lonn and Brian are popping champagne and looking forward to their futures. They won 2.6 billion in investment from Apollo Global Management!
This means Hal can buy a bigger yacht and pay even less attention to his flagship company. Randy and Lonn will get big bonuses and Brian will get his contract renewed.
Since there will be no baseball next season, Aaron will not have to lie every day about his incompetent choices, which are probably made by AI anyway. But since his remains a loyal PR flack for the disinterested and incompetent Yankee leadership, he can enjoy a year off - paid, of course - playing with the kids, going on vacation and taking the occasional zoom call. AI will write his banal and vacuous press statements, so he will be as useless next year as he was this year.
They - and all of baseball - will continue sinking deeper into irrelevance. By the time they get back from their suicidal lockdown, nobody will give a damn about baseball and Yankee fans will be in the exact same place as Yankee management: not giving a shit about the Yankees.
Thank you you all for an entertaining year of comradery, grousing, poetry, songs and jokes!. I hope you all have a wonderful winter and find new and exciting hobbies to fill your time, while the baseball doyens commit collective seppuku on our formerly national pastime.
Thanks, Scotland! Hope we'll be in touch again, soon.
Well said, Dr. T.
