Yankees greet their first truly soul-crushing meltdown of 2025. Now what?

So, whaddaya say?

I mean, we've been here before. Many times. And, yeah, they blew it.

In Super YES-Mo. On George M Steinbrenner Field. On Easter Eve.

A brutal, felony-grade, mind-boggling Yankee loss.

Worst of the season, thus far. A defeat for the ages, a butchery, with a stark, four-word message for 2025:

No lead is safe.

Nope. We're there, again. It's not even May, but the bullpen is barking, and the Yankees are a collective WTF?, finding creative ways to blow a game.

With a four-run lead, Boone calls on the closer. Oswaldo muffs a grounder. Devin Williams can't throw strikes. In the 10th, we can't move a runner. Then, the obligatory walk-off HR.

The first incontinent, incoherent, sickening, out-of-body loss of 2025.

Look, no closer is perfect, right? It's a long season. Williams was too good in Milwaukee to be this bad. Right? Please say yes. Assure me... he can't be this bad. Right?

Over the last seven years, between Aroldis and Clay Pigeon, the Yankees have been blessed with lights-out closers through April and May - until the vampiric Boone sucks the juice of life from them. This year, something's wrong. Already, Williams looks like Katy Perry in outer space. He was supposed to be the answer. His ERA is now 9.00. And the message is loud and clear...

No lead is safe.

The Yankees can pile up runs. Their starter can go six innings. A game can seem to be on ice. But it means nothing. No lead is safe.

Instead of starting hot, and fading from overuse, our closer looks like a dud.

Please, tell me he'll straighten out. He can't be this bad, right? It's a long season. A year of ups and downs. But for now... no lead is safe.

Cashman got fleeced again. There's a reason Milwaukee traded its closer for a mediocre fourth or fifth starter. After seeing Williams blow the series-deciding game 3 against the Mets, their GM knew Williams had the look of Byung-Hyun Kim, never again to put that game behind him and prosper as a closer.

Weaver was our closer after Holmes self-destructed. Why isn't Weaver still our closer? Williams is terrible. If he gives up one hit, he should be yanked from the game.

Why did we need another closer when we had one who was doing a great job? And now, we have a lousy closer and a guy who should be the closer but isn't.

Bizarro world is here again.

"A lot of soft contact," Boone said.

Another one pissed away. That's already like 3 or 4 this year. What's infuriating is that the Yankees blow these games, but they never do the same to the other team. How many games do you think they'll win this year when trailing by 4 going into the 9th inning? Like ... ZERO. How many games will they win when trailing by 3 after 6 innings? Like ... ZERO. But they'll blow something like 25 games this way.

So many questions - 2025 - the year they made soft contact.

Looks like I overestimated the bullpen for this year. Devin Williams appears to be a fruitcake. I think they'll have to get rid of a couple of useless bullpen lugnuts and bring up a couple of kids who have electric stuff. Who's in the minors who can throw 100 mph with electric stuff? Bring 'em up right fuckin' now. Ready or not, they'll have to learn on the job.

If there's nobody in the minors, then work a trade for a starting pitcher and a couple of relievers. Rodon, Clarke Schmidt, Will Warren, Volpe, Spencer Jones are all trade bait.

I think Boone meant the attempted sex with his wife the night before with his flaccid penis.

Devin Williams is every bit as bad as Clay Holmes. Should've known. No wonder the Brew Crew were willing to take Nestor Cortes for Williams. With resident pitching guru Matt Blake, you know nobody ever gets better, they just get worse.

Yeah, certainly looks it!

Carl for the self correction !

All could’ve been avoided by simply allowing Weaver to pitch the 9th.

Remember: Leave It To Weaver!

That is excellent!
