Inspiring today's musical question from Billy Joel, baseballreference nowhas your New York Yankees at pretty much a done deal to take the East Division—99.9 percent—a heavy favorite to get through the Division Series (67.9 percent)—almost even money to take the AL pennant (46.9 percent)...and much more likely than any other team in baseball to win the World Series.
Yes, it's true!
After:
—Three straight losses due to bullpen and fielding meltdowns
—A turn of the starting rotation that saw it compile a 6.42 ERA
—Ominous turns on the bench or in the doghouse for our most productive hitters
—That mud-wrestling win against the Redlegs last night, which may have cost us two, important regulars...
...the game's leading, statistical muckety-mucks see our favorite ballteam as having its highest chance yet this season of winning the World Series, at 32.9 percent.
The next highest percentage is the Dodgers, at 18.5 percent. After that, it's Houston, at 13.5 percent.
No other ball club is even in double digits. The Mets, who will win it all if they have Scherzer and deGrom back at full studdliness, are only considered to have a 5.7 percent chance to grab a ring.
"Don't ask me why..."

Wait, I'm sorry—is this No-Hit Thursday? Not to be confused with No-Hit Saturday and No-Hit Sunday?
Is this guy that good, or are we that bad?
Hmm...
Mistake not to send Judge. That was our best scoring chance.
Okay, great, run in. But how slow IS Stanton?
He’s good Hoss. Possible trade target for us.
How did Stanton not beat that out?
My god, Stanton wouldn’t run hard if he had a red hot poker up his ass.
Imagine him in 5 years?
uh oh Spagettios uh, lasagna
Call me fancy, if you must, but I'd take a box of red wine over Gallo any day of the week. It's how I roll
Wait ... a Joe Shlabotnik reference and a Dondi reference from Michael Kay in the same night???
It's retro Sunday comics night on the #Yankees broadcast.
Imagine if Dondi and Little Orphan Annie had married. Their kids would've had normal eyes.
Love Joe Shlabotnik.
John finally said “That’s baseball Suzyn” after denying us this classic for several seasons. It was about the Royals.
He has yet to give us a “bases are bulging with Bombers”.
BTW losing this often sucks
Looks like the slide to mediocrity and suckage has started. Wait till Stanton comes back from his Home Run Derby participation and goes ice cold.
Are there any results from Sevy's MRI? I'm already thinking a trade for Castillo is a must. But I'd bet the farm he goes to those slimey Dodgers.
The pineapples start to pile up. Awful game by LeMahieu today, terrible pitching.
Severino was diagnosed with a “low grade” Lat Strain, a fairly serious injury for a pitcher.
He had one a few seasons ago that was considered somewhat more severe and missed 4 months.
I’d be very surprised if he came back before September, and yes, he could be done for the year.
Someone please explain to me why Loaisiga was put into that situation. He is obviously not ready to return.
Let me put simply so that even crashman can understand: Boone is the worst fucking manager in the majors. We’ll never
win a championship with him at the helm.
And so the great collapse is at last upon us. Make sure Gallo is in the lineup for all 3 games against Boston
Amen, 999. And hey, Gallo got two walks today! That makes him a "Three True Outcomes" star! We'll never get him out of the lineup now!
