So, 5 strong innings against the Mets tonight by Dodgers starter...Andrew Heaney.
Heaney has a 2-1 record and 1.94 ERA as a Dodger this season. Looks like someone there "fixed" him, something the Yankees always claim to be able to do...and never quite manage, somehow.
Doug, I get your point about the Kinks songs. No offense meant. It's the rockers that always appeal to me and stick. Hey, I still have the motorcycle jacket I got in 1972.
I'm not watching so the Yankees are winning. Sometimes it works.
Love their rocker songs, too. But I also love stuff like their word play at the beginning of "Come Dancing"—
They put a parking lot on a piece of land When the supermarket used to stand Before that they put up a bowling alley On the site that used to be the local pally That's where the big bands used to come and play My sister went there on a Saturday Come dancing
Just singing that seems almost impossible! And...in captures in one stanza, the disconcerting nature of modern urban change, as well as this kid's childhood memories.
The rest of the story is pretty (wonderfully) complex for rock 'n' roll, too. His sister is really something of a prima donna, wrapping these guys around her little finger:
In the hallway, in anticipation He didn't know the night would end up in frustration He'd end up blowing all his wages for the week All for a cuddle and a peck on the cheek
And yet, she's filled with sentiment, too, for her physically vanishing youth:
The day they knocked down the pally My sister stood and cried The day they knocked down the pally Part of my childhood died, just died...
Takes a special band to put out something like that.
Hope Taillon is okay. This would provide another excuse for Cooperstown Cashman, though: 'Hey, how could I know that one of our constantly injured pitchers...would get injured?'
The Yankees win! The Yankees WWWWWWWWIIIIIIIIINNNNNNN!
Well, if nobody else is up...
Very nice work by the bullpen. Great to see Greg Weissert, especially, bounced back from that awful debut. The Lasagna was terrific, Wandy did pretty well considering that Oswaldo gaffe, Trivino (could it be we fixed somebody?), and Mariachi.
Amazing Judge hit a 3-run bomb tonight becuase the first two on base guys...got on base in front of him...Its almost as if this site didnt call that earlier....
And the officially word on Bushmills Taliesen is that he seems to have...a boo-boo. So good.
The bad spots? The continuing black holes in the lineup, of course. Higgy threw out Babe Ruth II on the bases, which was great, but he still can't hit. The Gleyber was supposed to play, but I understand that he was distracted by an especially adorable dog, that he followed out to the parking lot, and then was not seen again.
And of course...The Man of Glass once again did nothing. Last HR? July 15th. Well, you know mysterious, undefined calf injuries are always slow to heal. I guess.
Joe WTF are you implying??? Why, the two guys ahead of him—the two guys with the best OBP on the team—ONLY scored 4 runs between them! And Judge ONLY had 5 at-bats!
Yeah, once again—second time just on this road trip—the margin of victory provided by going by 150 years of strategy, as opposed to what the computers say is best.

The Season is Long. It will end when the warm days of summer leave us.
This is a great song, we have a truuuuuly shitty team, but this is a GREAT song!
Rays 6-0 over the Marlins Bottom 7th
Ken o' B, thanks for recommending the Fall's Victoria. I loved it.

This team sucks.
Winnie....I hope that's David and not Kuhn.

It's easier to relax when your team is actually good.
We got a break…
Yankees have discovered a new market inefficiency in bases-loaded situations: hope like hell the other team makes an error. Ingenious.
All rise, for fuck sake.
Why did Taillon only go 2?
Winnie - he took a line drive off his pitching arm
took a comebacker to his pitching arm

And of course, Lucas Luetge throwing another gopher ball to Mike Ford.
His initials aren't "L" for nothing.
By the way, anyone know what channel our favorite team is on? Or is this another "prime video" night?
And yes, Hinkey, I understand that Donaldson was told, "Hit into errors HARD" on that play. Is that coaching or what?

Aside from the Double L, nice work all around.

Who could know?
I’m up I’m awake I live I breathe but it’s a crazy crazy work week.
Was it my imagination or did I see The Babe Ruth of the Angels repeatedly lick and suck his thumb whilst on first base without sanitizing first?
YUCK DUDE- get a room.
I hear there are plenty a few blocks away at the Disneyland Hotel.
