Our daughter is in the process of narrowing down colleges. University of Rochester, Syracuse, and Cornell all made the cut. She doesn't drive so I'll be doing a whole bunch of snow driving.

Mildred, it has a very walkable campus. Shuttle from the airport is $20.
Even at out of state tuition rate AND travel costs, it's much cheaper than the ice palaces.
It helps if she's interested in oceanography.
Thank you Rufus. She's laser-focused on a PhD in chemical engineering and unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, married to the idea of staying in the northeast. I kind of love her so I'm glad she's not going too far away.

U. of R. campus has gotten semi-dangerous since the walk bridge across the river was built.
Cornell is hilly for walkers and drivers.
SU seems more self-contained once you get there.
None of these are pleasant from November til April, with rain, snow, gray and wind.
But, they all beat Oswego!

She's going to apply to MIT, along with Cornell one of her two dream schools. Low acceptance rate but she's got a shot at both.
My sister and a couple friends went to Cornell. Great school, lovely campus. But she ought to learn to drive if she's going to be there for four years.
