Hats off to Giancarlo Stanton for jogging on what should have been a double; it's only the most important game of the season - a great time to be dogging it.

I just watched a replay of Giancarlo Stanton jogging around the bases - and being thrown out at second - on a line drive into the left field corner.

This is a playoffs level game. It should have been a leadoff double. He didn't run hard.

I wish Billy Martin were alive.

Someone needs to tell him a 'half day off' doesn't mean he no longer has to run the bases.

Really? No game thread? And this is a horrible game . I am getting that old familiar feeling…..

Wezil1, the game thread is a couple of posts back, under "Read it and weep: Yankee hitting stats over the last 15 days"

I did read that…enjoyed it somehow. Very dark prospects since no one seems to be held to account for, well, much of anything. Started out with gin, but now I am seriously thinking of going back to the freezer for another Fatboy.
Dont know why I am still watching.

You rip on Stanton so much. He's the second best hitter on the team. Without him we'd be in fourth place. He's not what he should be,but he's certainly not the worst part of the team.

Another screw-up by Cashman--he neglected to include a "running-out-base-hits" monetary incentive clause in Stanton's contract.

Heaney. Wow. Are there so few arms? Really?

Stunning stat just posted by YES: This is the first time since 1908 that the Yankees have been swept in a four-game series without ever holding a lead.

I respectfully disagree, bennyboy. Stanton is paid a significant portion of the team's payroll in order to make a big contribution.

He never does.

Yes, he is the second best hitter on the team this year. He has scored 53 runs and driven in 73—in what is, easily, his best season with the Yanks since 2018. In addition, he seems to have a real problem with desire—don't forget him opting out of most of the 2019 ALCS AFTER hitting a home run—and loses skills on a regular basis (DP no. 19 on the season today, which is not supposed to occur to a 3-true outcome guy.)

He—or anyone taking up that much money and that batting spot—MUST provide more, if this team is to win.

He cannot, so they won't.

bennyboy, is clearly a relativist. Giancarlo isn't the worst payer on the team so that makes him okay.

bennyboy, I have no idea who you are, but my high school coach would bench you if you didn't play hard and run out everything. Show a lack of effort, and you ride the pine. Didn't matter if you were a "good" player. And here's the thing: Good players actually play hard, all the time. Getting thrown out at second in a close game (or any game) is NOT GOOD PLAY. Phoning it in is NOT GOOD PLAY. WE WILL CALL OUT BAD PLAY ON THIS BLOG.

Suck it.

Have none of you considered the " that is as fast as those million dollar legs can go?"

I have seen him ( and Sanchez) doubled up after a base hit to LF.

Allow me to clarify: Sanchez is on first with a walk. No outs. Stanton hits a 116 mph exit velocity single to LF. Outfielder throws to second for one ( out ) and relay to first nips Stanton by 10 feet.

Simple.
