It is horrible watching this re-tread of last year's Yankee team, and hoping they are better.
But the great thing is; today's game will be like last year's "play-in game, " with respect to the intensity it will bring ( if it resembles the outcome we are in deep shit ).
The Yankees cannot hope to be a factor in the AL East if they don't win, say, 15 games against this AAAA team. We cannot go 11-8 against Baltimore this year.
And they proved yesterday, that this line-up can't beat them, even when Yankee pitching really good ( one notable exception ).
So the Yankees must win today. Going 0-2 in CamdenYards is unacceptable, and raises the temperature even more for tomorrow. As an Oriole player, " I have nothing to lose."
The problem is; the Yankee's "deep bench" consists of pitchers. Some of whom, would likely do better with a bat than Aaron Hicks, for example. But Boone really has few options. He won't sit the $300 million man today.
Each inning, each at-bat, will matter. Strike outs will be more painful.
We get to see how Donaldson stands up to pressure. How Giancarlo stands tall. How we support Taillon.
And the BIG ASK; what if we need a closer today?
Heat up the grill.
This is going to be a ballgame worth watching.
The season is more on the line than the statistics will show.

"I wonder what their collective Exit Velocity will be".....said Noone ever but YES
Maybe Steinbrenner will pull a "Yogi" and fire Boone in April if we lose again in Baltimore..
Lets hire Showlater., Oh, not available then never mind.
Let's hire Melvin. Oh.
There has to be someone better that the Boondoggle. [Named after his daily scrabbled lineup.]
Yeah, I know; wrong Steinbrenner.
How much you wanna bet that this Yankee team will get swept by the Orioles at least once this season?
Yanks are leading the AL in ERA...and playing .500 ball.
@The Archangel said..."Maybe Steinbrenner will pull a "Yogi" and fire Boone in April if we lose again in Baltimore.."
That would truly be an Easter/Passover miracle. It's more likely that Yes will announce Brian Big-Brain Cashman is using the money set aside for Arron Judge to reward a contract extension for the 'The Polished Communicator' Aaron Boone. After all his track record is remarkable.
1st and 2nd, nobody out..,do we score? Of course not
The best hitter on the team is sitting. Again. This is insanity.
Of course, DJ is sitting. Look how deep into the schedule we are now, these guys must be exhausted.
The Yankees are so boring that the YES crew have to hype a fairly routine scoop of a thrown ball to Rizzo at first as if it was some miraculous and unreal grab.
An insurmountable 2-0 deficit.
This is so sad and depressing. Obviously, the Steinbrenner family is okay with all of this.
The Yankees lead MLB Valuations at $7 Billion but that still is not enough to go out and build a great club.
Saint Alphonso, spot on.
Bats are finally starting to wake up...
King pitches another strong outing…
we may need six more runs at the top of the 9th if chapstick closes it tonight
