We gave up four young players for a guy with 3 HR and 4 RBIs, to whom a .200 batting average looks like an unreachable star. Yesterday, it hit home.
Well, Suzyn, I thank you...

One reason the Yankees have not won is the leadership of the lack of by Genius Cashman. He loves strike out guys like Joey K. To my eyes, because he has some talent, the worst player I have watched in a Yankee uniform. One aside, Jason Dominguez is not doing well in the minors. Could be another bust under the Genius.
EDB, you must not have seen Charlie Smith. But hey, Gallo could surpass even him, in suckiness.
3HR/4RBI are Jerry Kenney numbers
Dominguez has started to heat up - a little, anyway. In his last three games, he is 5-14 with a HR.
I have railed many times about the Yankee bullshit machine pumping up their front office by placing ridiculous expectations on this kid. "The Martian." "Mike Trout." "NFL running back." Ridiculous. But he's still young, and so is the season.
You have to admit: trading Otto to Texas was a humanitarian gesture. It gave the kid a chance to pitch in his home state.
The Intern has a good heart.
And no brains.
And here's hoping MLB starts a franchise in Nevada so we can send Gallows home. But I'd be willing to give him a one-way ticket to the Reno Aces or the Las Vegas Aviators. He'd be better suited to hitting in the PCL.
Celerino, I know you replaced Kenney at third, but still: one season, the guy hit .257. Another, .262—both numbers that are beyond even the understanding of our pal Joey.
(True, without power. But his OPS in those two years was .639 and .679, respectively...well beyond Joey's .588 so far this year.)
Will the Yankees get anything done against a pitcher who came into the game with a +7 ERA?
Will they give some payback to a manager who called their home a "little league stadium"?
Will they avoid losing a series at home after winning 11 straight just a few days ago?
I have many questions and I am afraid to answer them
Through 3+, neither team has a hit, and the Yanks seem to be sleepwalking out there without any interest or hustle. Luckily, Cortes is dealing, but this looks to be another 1-0 or 2-1 loss. The stadium is empty and this is tough to watch.
HC, "our pal Joey", hilarious! But, the season is very young, and players go through slumps unnoticed like Joey's in July. Unless he's had a nervous breakdown, he'll come out of it. I think. I hope.
Cammie and particularly Paulie going on and on about how hard it is to bounce back for a day game after a doubleheader, and how you feel it in your body.
Uh-huh.
Do these guys really have no idea of how they sound? Two-plus years into Covid, with people all over this country routinely working 2-3 jobs for a tiny fraction of what these guys make?
Yeah, it's real hard to get psyched. Particularly when you spent the entire night before drinking, snorting, and getting laid. Man, it wears on you!...
Down the stretch of the epic, 1951 pennant race in the NL, the Giants played 4 separate doubleheaders, Sept. 3 to Sept. 16. No one complained—at least in public. (The Giants also won 6 of those 8 games.)
Sept. 1-Oct. 2, 1978, the Yankees played 32 games under incredible pressure, during THAT epic race. No one complained. If they had, Thurman Munson would've punched them in the face.
I know, I know: they were giants in them thar days, etc.!
But really? Constant griping from guys who make more money than almost anyone who has ever lived, to go out and play a game in the sunshine?
How do you ever stop smiling? But they find a way.
I hear ya, Kev. But his lifetime, .205 BA (down a point already this year) does not fill me with hope.
Has anyone mentioned that the Mets released Cano outright? They owe him 45 million on his contract, but tossed him because they have better uses for the roster slot.
The Mets are still paying Beltran, too. Has YES ditched him already or just moved him to the Spanish language broadcasts?
Joey is up to .174. On a tear.
Mikey got excited by Joey's foul ball homer.
Broken bat hit. Cam says it's a good sign for Joe the Schmoe.
Why has Joey Gallo struggled with Yankees? Here are three potential reasons, including the baseball itself - CBS Sports
This was a headline on the CBS Sports Website. I had to laugh. I can explain his troubles in 3 words. HE F**KING SUCKS!
How about HE CAN'T HIT?
Yeah, that was something else. He reached out on a ball out of the strike zone, broke his bat, but managed to dump a dying quail down toward the right field corner. And was unable to reach second on the ball.
So we follow it up with a sac bunt so bad it is gloved in foul territory by the first baseman. BUT...it seems to have caused the unhittable Jon Gray to hurt himself and have to leave.
Play of the game!!
Yanks seem to have entered one of those periods where every opposing pitcher is Cy Young.
Hell the Mets are still paying Bobby Bonilla!
LOL!!
Judge is back to the unclutch.
Rizzo, too. That was ugly with bases loaded.
Bases loaded, one out:
Judge - K
Rizzo - K (looking)
Another terrible at-bat, and Rizzo is now mired in a slump.
Cortes has a no-no through six on fewer than 75 pitches.
Thank God for Nestor.
We can’t get Nestor runs either…smh…
I was proved temporarily wrong during the win streak, but I'm back to saying "They can't hit."
Gallo has no strikeouts today. HE'S TURNED THE PAGE!
Never-fucking-mind. Gallo is an asshole
If I hear that ensushiastic commercial one more time…. Christ. Making a no hitter into a no listener.
Cortez gives up one hit in 7 1/3, strikes out 11 or so Rangers, and can't get the win because the Yankees can't hit.
He and Monty should start a club.
DJ channeling Cano and not running out a grounder that was misplayed. He could be at first.
one lousy run per game against one of the worst pitching staff in the AL
Rolaids time…
Wow. They scored. Judge and Rizzo. And Rizz nailed in a rundown.
1-0.
Oh shit. Chapman.
Yeah, Chapman. This Chapman: 7 walks in his last 9 innings.
Well, Dick, he is a specialist, after all.
Yankees win!!!
I was really afraid Gallo was gonna drop that one. But, sera, sera, etc.
The lag time on the TV broadcast is weird.
As always, take the win and run, but hats off to Cortes who had the Rangers flummoxed all day. We win 2/3, but hardly dominated, we could’ve been swept just as easily.
Next TOR, need a split there.
Nestor "the Batting Average" Molester.
MAD Mag star.
I think that I will grow his mustache because, then I will look like my new favorite Yank.
3 games. Yankees get 13 hits. In 3 games. The Rangers must have an all-star pitching staff, like Koufax, Koufax, and Koufax-- right?
But...MLB.com team stats show Rangers 22nd (out of 30 teams) in pitching, with ERA of 3.97.
Only AL team that's worse (@ 3.99) is Cleveland.
Horace, there were loads of stiffs. Chris Carter comes to mind. At least Joey K. can field.
Kenin. Joey's entire Yankee career has been a slump.

So true and very concerning. Shocked to see DJ so lax with his baserunning today. He's still one of our best but that takes (a little) shine off the glow.
He seemed very irritated by an earlier call while at bat. Though it didn't cost him anything, he got a walk anyway.
These players are getting to be like racehorses.
LOL to archangel
