Hilarious starts at the beginning of the show, about how the Yanks had 274 homers in the regular seasons—3, so far, in the postseason—and led the majors in slugging and homes.

Playoffs? They're down several hundred slugging points. Perfect illustration of how Cashie's philosophy fails every time in the playoffs. I have the sound off in my hotel room, but that bastard Smoltz is smiling like the Cheshire cat. Smile away, Johnny baby. But you didn't get to face those Yankee teams, ha-ha.

Hey !

I have a question….if someone grabbed Ken Rosenthal by his bow tie and swung him around really fast like a hammer toss in the Olympics, how far would he go when they let go ?

HoraceClarke66 said...

Love the look of almost open terror in Rodon's eyes. Oh, this bodes well!

HoraceClarke66 said...

Rodon 1-3 with a 6.66 ERA against Toronto. Ruh-roh. Sounds like the end times. But you knew that.

Hinkey Haines said...

And … we’re done.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Hello? Hello? Anybody there? Mayday! Mayday! Anyone out there? This is the Titanic calling...

HoraceClarke66 said...

Well, it will be fun to see someone polish off these loathsome goons. I'm hoping for Seattle, but I'd settle for the Dodgers doing it.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Yeah, feed him that big meatball on 2-0. No point in putting him on, and having the next hitter beat that DP grounder to the third baseman. Holy shit, this is a stupid team.

AboveAverage said...

V La d.

They did not walk him.

(Just in case you didn’t notice)

Hinkey Haines said...

Guess I’m a Brewers fan for at least a few days.

Joe of AZ said...

WHY THE FUCK DO THEY CONTINUE TO PITCH TO FUCKIN VLAD.....ALL FUCKIN YEAR...NO ADJUSTMENT

AboveAverage said...

Aaron hit a single !

Hinkey Haines said...

And just to twist the knife a bit - an Ohtani ad was on the green screen behind home plate during Judge’s at-bat.

mik said...

Michael Kay said today on his radio show that he sees no need to pitch around Vlad!

HoraceClarke66 said...

Incredible. The same play at first. This team is actually retarded. (And I know we're not supposed to use the "r" word. But still.)

HoraceClarke66 said...

Also, half the team swinging merrily away at the first pitch. As usual.

AboveAverage said...

‘Mentally Challenged’

AboveAverage said...

Rodon does look like he shat himself AND has stopped breathing

HoraceClarke66 said...

Nice of Toronto to give us a run with that error. So glad to see, too, that we are once again refusing to hit Judge and Stanton, back-to-back.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Amazing. Rodon struggling to put away Felafel.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Holy shit. And now he hit Gimenez, their .210 hitter.

BTR999 said...

That pitch never hit him

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Not for enough

AboveAverage said...

Survival food kit commercials.

Yay

mik said...

1 pitch. 1 out. Savages?

Rufus T. Firefly said...

No. It didn't.

But John schmuck said it did.

Good enough for mlb

HoraceClarke66 said...

I know. Makes you wonder if the ump's betting on the game.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Yeah, these are comically bad at-bats. They have no sense of the strike zone.
Also, Wells seemed surprised that Rodon's last pitch last inning was even being thrown. May have got lucky there.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Lavages

BTR999 said...

Tough to watch the awful approach of the Yankee hitters, swinging early, often, and wildly.

AboveAverage said...

They finally walked Vlad

HoraceClarke66 said...

A walk and a line double to a guy hit .234 for them this year. Rodon is amazing.

Yankee Stadium: Farewell to Mystique and Aura

HoraceClarke66 said...

And now Chisholm doesn't seem to understand the defensive alignment. Stupid of Toronto not to run on Judge there, though.

AboveAverage said...

Stoopid
Stoopid
Stoopid

Hinkey Haines said...

This team continues to play with an unparalleled lack of urgency or instinct.

AboveAverage said...

Stooopid

HoraceClarke66 said...

Beyond words. Bellinger acts as though he's never played LF before. And as for Boone, it looks like a replay of last year. He sits in his corner, silent, while his team falls apart.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Very well put, Hinkey, That's exactly it. They seem barely involved.

BTR999 said...

Face it, the team knows it’s over, and they’re playing like it.

13bit said...

In the medical field, that's known as "Torre and the Midges Syndrome."

AboveAverage said...

But after all isn’t this Cashman’s plan ?

Doug K. said...

They are all playing in slo motion with zero urgency. Even Bellinger to forever to get that ball in on that throw from third. -- burn it all down.

HoraceClarke66 said...

And I've changed my mind about next year. Let Grisham AND Bellinger go. At least give Dominguez and Jones a chance.

13bit said...

If the bulk of their pay were dependent on wins in a bonus-based system, you'd see a lot more focus and engagement.

13bit said...

Yes.

AboveAverage said...

Fire Blake and Boone

13bit said...

It's like what the announcers used to say about the Jets during the 80s and 90s - "mental problems."

BTR999 said...

Here is asshole boone, one of the architects of this disaster.

BernBabyBern said...

This is absolutely pathetic.

Doug K. said...

I just had the same thought. Bellinger's lack of hustle with the season on the line.

Doug K. said...

Are the fans booing yet. They should start a fire Cashman chant.

mik said...

In Game 5 of last year’s World Series, the Yankees completely crumbled. LA exposed all their weaknesses and mocked them openly. A year later, nothing seems to have changed—they’re still the same uninspired, leaderless, and lifeless team. If humiliation and ridicule can’t spark change, what will?

Doctor T said...

Thanks for the laughs, guys. Best part of this predictably disastrous game.

Carl J. Weitz said...

Yankees are not only losing, but are being embarrassed on national TV in a three-game sweep. Heads should roll but won't because management and ownership have no shame or pride.

Carl J. Weitz said...

What a great idea.

mik said...

Ownership has neither shame nor pride, but they do have money. Apparently, that seems to be enough.

ranger_lp said...

Buck Martinez was right…

Doug K. said...

CC looks like he needs a drink.

Hinkey Haines said...

Every Yankee fan needs a drink…

HoraceClarke66 said...

Well, they steadied the ship—at least for a moment. It's still sinking, but they steadied it...

BernBabyBern said...

Oh my god ... Boone just had the nerve to say that the Yankees were "putting good at-bats on 'em." George would fire him by the end of the game if he was still alive.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Cruz at least seems fired up. I hope he hits Laddie in the head.

HoraceClarke66 said...

That's supposed to be, "Vladdie," fucking spellcheck.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Actually a good move, pinch-hitting Rosario, even if it did not pay off...

HoraceClarke66 said...

...On the other hand, I do not understand the Yanks' righty-lefty-lefty-righty, 2-5 order. What's that about? Anyone?

mik said...

I can see Boone saying "it's all right there in front of us" after this game. He's and idiot.

Doug K. said...

El Duque started a new thread. Not that it will help.

Hinkey Haines said...

Aaron Boone is a Professional Idiot. He’s playing 4-dimensional chess in the multiverse.

Kevin said...

Thanks, I thought that it was just me😱

13bit said...

Let's split the difference and just start calling him "Lassie"

mik said...

Charlie Sheen: 'Life all comes down to a few moments. This is one of them.' Charlie said it but Judge will be living it after this commercial break...

BTR999 said...

HE DID IT

HoraceClarke66 said...

So, all 6 runs driven in by Stanton (2) and Judge (4). Thanks for showing up, everyone else.

HoraceClarke66 said...

And in the field! But...we are now on our 4th pitcher in the 5th inning.

Kevin said...

I can deal with losing, but having to listen to the "Judge is a choker" narrative again would have been brutal.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Out of it! And I sense...a UVM coming up.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Exactly, Kevin! And even a loss here, now, would MAYBE force some of the media to focus on the major dysfunction with the rest of this team.
