Good Morning, El Duque

But, as Duque reminds us, there is no Plan B.

Silver lining:
For his career, Lee is 14-15 with a 3.60 ERA in 39 regular season starts against the Yankees' AL East rivals.
So, really, the Yankees would have only been paying Lee $150 million not to pitch to them in the playoffs.

But still. Sorry, Duque.

I hope Brian Cashman wakes up this morning to find himself unemployed.

Lee left $56 million on the table. How is that Cashman's fault?

We have a team with a $200 million payroll and Brian Cashman basically had his hopes pinned on Cliff Lee. Now we have Sergio Mitre and Ivan Nova as our 4th and 5th starters, not to mention the enigma that is AJ Burnett will be counted on for huge innings.

The GM should pay with his job for letting our starting rotation get this, perilously bad, especially in the American League.

The Yankees outspend everybody, and this team still has serious holes.

Since you put it that way...

And also, put yourself back in time 8 years. Can you imagine me telling you that the Red Sox are in a position to win their 3rd title in 8 years?

Somebody's head has to roll for that.

They have to beat Philly first. Lee, Halladay, Oswalt, Hamels. That's a crazy rotation!

Last I saw Lee could not beat San Francisco and Philadelphia also could not beat San Francisco. Greinke is the man the Yankees need.

Greinke would be great except that he sometimes thinks he is Victor Hugo. On other days, he is Daffy Duck. When most normal, he eats clay.

He is like that USC (?) QB whose dad raised him to be an NFL QB from age 2.

He did well in college, but became unglued in the pros. So unglued, I can think of glue names but not his. A total failure and a top pick at that.

Greinke is more mentally unbalanced than Jimmy Piersall. They will name "relaxation drugs " for him. He thinks Kansas City is a cloud.

He sees demons in his glove and locker.

If you put him on a street corner in NYC and let him talk, he'd gather nickles and then insert them into his ears.

He brain is like a kid with C-4 and a match.

He hates baseball at the core and cannot ever be a Yankee.

If you think Rick Ankeil or Knobby had the yips, wait until you see this dude in NY, speaking with the media.

I lived through the Ed Whitson era.
I have no desire to experience the Zach Greinke era.
At least Whitson cost us only cash; I don't want to trade the family jewels for a head case like Greinke.

[BTW, that QB was Todd Marinovich]
