What is it about these websites that constantly gin-up possible Yankee trades?
Seriously, does every moth-eaten salary bloat in major league baseball have to end up on the Yankees?
Yeah, Mark Beuhrle pitched a no-hitter. But would we really get more from him than we would from Adam Warren or David Phelps? (And we probably have to give up one or both of them to get him.)
Around this time of year, why do so many bloggers play matchmaker?
NO TO MARK BEUHRLE.
NO TO DEADLINE TRADES.
NO TRADES OF PROSPECTS IN THE SUMMER.
IF WE'RE GOING TO TRADE PROSPECTS, DO IT IN THE WINTER, WHEN WE ARE SIT THE DRIVER'S SEAT, NOT DURING AUCTIONS OF OVERPRICED, OVER-THE-HILL VETERANS.

Buehrle is not gonna require Montero. He probably won't require any of the Killer Bs, and he's a free agent at the end of the year, so you'll get him at rental price. This guy isn't Cliff Lee, but reliable and A LOT BETTER than Freddy Garcia and Ivan Nova (despite Nova's sick start last night) he is. And if you resign him for next season, great. A good guy in the clubhouse and a reliable lefty. He would remind me a lot of Andy Pettitte, even if he is in the twilight of his career.
Hell, maybe they ask for Nova and a mid-level prospect, in which case Cashman has to pull the trigger.
I read somewhere that if he gets traded during the season his contract gets extended for a year @ $15 million.
