Re: Honouring Baseball's Moral Champion, Raymond J. de Souza, July 28.
Included in this timely column is a point that I have not seen referred to in the media before - namely the player's strike in 1994 following the back-to-back World Series victories by the Toronto Blue Jays. I too have teased my American relatives on the question of just why this happened - especially in a year when the Montreal Expos were so far out in front that they were a shoo-in for three straight World Series wins for Canada.
And may I ask why the Toronto Blue Jays were not placed in the Central Division with other Great Lakes teams - Cleveland, Detroit and Chicago - instead of the Eastern Division, home to great money clubs such as the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox?
