Well done sir!

Oooooh! ALL CAPS, if you're still reading, don't take it too hard!

Love the avatar Doug K.!

Is this the correct thread for the game? Hello? Hello?

TheWinWarblist said...

Who's sitting in with The Master? Is Suzyn well?

Stang said...

Suzyn's off for Yom Kippur. I think that's Sweeny Murti with John.

Stang said...

I just changed Duque's headline to make this a game thread. Because I'm a stinker!

TheWinWarblist said...

You stink it up Mustang!! STINK AWAY!!!

TheWinWarblist said...

Are you moderating tonight? So far I only see you and I as posting.

HoraceClarke67 said...

Not Sweeny! Not Sweeny Todd..Oh, no, it's Murti. That's cool.

And not Heaney. Very cool.

Platoni said...

I'm here and enjoying Nasty N. through GameDay. He's a gem, he is

TheWinWarblist said...

I am enjoying Nestor. That last strikeout was on a 70 mph sidearm curveball. And then he gives up a HR.

TheWinWarblist said...

Green. Great. Sure. That's what I'd do in this tiny bandbox of a stadium. Bring in the reliever who's given up more homeruns than anyone. Let's run with this idea.

Fuckers.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

If only the Yankees had a ninth inning guy.

Leinstery said...

Well who didn't see that coming?

Rufus T. Firefly said...

How very appropriate.

Carl J. Weitz said...

Once again...Chad Green, the home run machine.

TheWinWarblist said...

It is said that one cannot predict baseball. But we are all starting to have the ability to predict the Yankee bullpen.

So now that he's blown the save, wouldn't you have him finish the inning to at least limit the workload on the bullpen? I mean it's not like anyone will need to pitch the bottom of the ninth.

Fuckers! Fuckers! Fuckers! Fuckers!

Platoni said...

Greene looked like shit on most of his pitches, so let's let him pitch to the only Oriole who did any damage tonight. Smart

ZacharyA said...

Chad Green since mid-July:
5.20 ERA with a 2.60 HR/9

Boone: uses Green for multiple innings in a one-run game

Green: gives up home run

Boone: huh didn’t see that coming

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Peralta is the next guy to go by his sell date by grossly overusing him.

Insert any reliever to be the next in line.

Platoni said...

Make up a phantom injury for Greene and let him sit for a few days. Then do the same for Torres, but bigger and let him sit the rest of the year

TheWinWarblist said...

As to the question, "Is chad Green overworked?" I would say, "Yes." Allowing any reliever to give up 14 home runs is a reliever who has received entirely too much work.

TheWinWarblist said...

That was almost tautological, wasn't it?

ZacharyA said...

I mean also Green has thrown more innings than any other reliever in the game

Rufus T. Firefly said...

I apologize to my non-goyem friends, but you are more fortunate for having missed this sin.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Winnie,

What you said.

TheWinWarblist said...

Rufus, now that you mention it, I am kind of jealous of Suzyn's absence.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

The tease continues

Rufus T. Firefly said...

at least it won't be a "Game Ending (tm)" DP

JM said...

Green, Green, the meatball machine.

TheWinWarblist said...

Oh c'mon now Rufus, you know how this ends.

JM said...

Could still be, Rufus.

TheWinWarblist said...

Look at the bright side. You may be able to cash-in on that trade mark tonight.

JM said...

Wade Torres double steal.

No DP.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

first pitch -- solid ball, called strike
secong pitch -- close strike, called ball

Blame Hal, our Fire Witch. Thin starting pitching, a burnt bullpen in September. In the past fifty years, roughly 75% of our seasons spiral into oblivion for the same reason. The worst of it is that as fans we can't/won't believe that things will turn out differently. And oh so cruelly it unwinds in slow motion, in the Court of the Crimson King.

JM said...

Lolololol!!!!!!

JM said...

Bloop single. Priceless.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

-Fire Witch-

Phrase of the day.

DickAllen said...

Chapman warming up - how can he possibly fuck this up?

JM said...

Oh, Baltimore...

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Rickie Martin is NOT livin' la vida loca.

ZacharyA said...

Brett Gardner is hitting .257/.360/.419 since the All Star break, while Joey Gallo is hitting .136/.278/.352 in the same span.

Make of that what you will.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

John just said they need to score at least six more runs.

"You'e have to assume Chapman is coming int."

DickAllen said...

Thanks Zach. You had to remind me.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Fork me.

DickAllen said...

And since when is okay to block the plate? Did I miss a new rule?

TheWinWarblist said...

I went to the bathroom to pee. And someone other than he Yankees have blown a save. So here comes FlopSweat.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

G'nite all.

Can't watch Chapo.

See you in the am.

DickAllen said...

And miss all the fun, Rufus?!?!?

JM said...

Third day in a row. This doesn't bode well.

JM said...

Wow, that was easy.

Platoni said...

Real question. On that bloop single, when the ball finally hit the ground, Torres was already a couple feet from third base. Was that another base running fuck up that didn't matter in the end? I feel like that would have been a double play had the ball been caught.

I mean, it ended up winning the game for the Yankees, but still

Pocono Steve said...

Yeah, it was a complete baserunning fuckup that ended up benefiting the Yankees. As they say, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

TheWinWarblist said...

That was weird.

Pocono Steve said...

And Chapman did a great job not serving up bombs to the three .100s BA/.500s OPS batters he faced. Great job, Chappy!

Kevin said...

(In a Howard Cosell staccato delivery) 'Brett Gardner. The Ancient One. And they said he was too old to play the game'.

Ceeja said...

Tyler Fucking Wade. How do you not love this kid? I think Gleybar looks a little tired. A good week's rest would help him. Play Wade every day. Bring Velasquez up while you're at it.

I guess Boone who have sat Gehrig's ass down and played Pipp. Would have figured Jeter needed another two years in the minors. That Stottlemyre kid? Needs more time in triple A. And why promote Mariano to closer if you can sign Wettland for another year?

Laicifitra Nomel Gnirovalf said...

well on our way to another double digit winning streak - yeah - baby - yeah

HoraceClarke67 said...

Gleyber was out of his mind. The inning after making a crucial mental mistake in the field, he made one on the bases.

But hey—sometimes things work out!

ESPN, who I've come to loathe, actually has an article asking if the 1986 Mets were the best team of the past fifty years. Then behind a firewall, they name the top ten. Yeah controversy sells, but thirty-five years had to pass before such shameful Bullsht is bandied about. Who do you think they were praising in 1998? ESPN has become a disease in the business of sports journalism. Well Disney, owners of ESPN ruins everything they put their clutches into. I was third in line, first day when Star Wars debuted. Continued my fandom until the corpse of Carrie Fischer suddenly developed the ability to fly through a near vacuum, Mary Popping style. It's come down to the point where big business blatantly shows the Public how little they regard their Customers' intellect. "One of these days, Alice..."
