Anyone have a theory about why Marwin Gonzalez is not only on the Yankee roster but even starting at first base? You could almost pick someone off the AAA or AA rosters blindfolded and do better on almost any key skill--speed, batting, fielding, athleticism, etc.
Now that Charles is finally king, a classic from about 30 years ago. A Stern listener prank call to a BBC show featuring his majesty. LOLOL! . Enjoy the 2 minutes plus.
Cashman seems to operate by the following thesis: if you have an older, washed-up guy who can't play anymore, defy the evidence of the numbers and your own eyes by continuing to shove him int0 the lineup, hoping against hope and reason that he will magically shed the years and be the player he was five years ago: hence Gardner, Hicks, Gallo, Gonzalez, Donaldson, Chapman, ad nauseam, even as the losses mount and you scratch your tiny bald head trying to figure out why.
Worst possible outcome. Hicks gets two hits in two days, so Boone and Cashman will delusionallly decide, on this aberrant tiny sample, that it's Springtime for Aaron and will start him in the entire series against Tampa Bay, during which he will reliably suck and do his part to ensure that by Sunday the division race is deadlocked. These guys are just DUMB.
Saw the replays. And yes, Gleyber got screwed, and yes, he sucks.
But also, Boone is not a big-league manager. Hell, I could FEEL that was the wrong move. And Weissert is not a major-league pitcher. It's ridiculous to have him do anything but mop up.
Larger bases a good idea. A better idea: allow runners to slide through second and third. Only when they make a genuine attempt (ie get up and start running) to the next base are they live runners. Holding on to the bag is a marginal, pointless skill that disincentives the running game.
Tying run on 3rd, winning runs at 2nd, bottom of the 9th, 1 out Number 3 hitter up; B. Harper?, nope Manny Machado?, naw, C. Correa,? get serious, Freddie Freeman? doesn't look like.
GLEYBER
FUCK YOU HAL FUCK YOU CASHMAN Glad I didn't watch it. The Billes were on!!
Speaking of which, THAT is how you reward a loyal fan base (even if they threaten to leave every year or so). Somebody give HAL-hole Pegula's #
Nestor, after lengthy rest of his genital area, was " good" for four innings.
How confident must Florial feel? He is pinch hit for by a predictable strikout king one step from the IL, and a guy in a boot that the Yankees are verbally lusting for to replace him,
" You are so useless, Florial, that A. We don't know your first name, and B. we will replace you by a guy on the IL who can't walk. '

Whoa, what are you implying about Nestor?
Just that the paid vacation seems to have done him good.
He did seem to enjoy his time - many of his social media posts showed him beaming.
Plus, as he clearly was such a big fan of the Queen, I’m really expecting a career night for the JR Nasty
So AnDUjar wasn't sent down. And Guzman isn't in the lineup. But Marwin is. Cripes.
I didn't read all the comments a couple posts ago. Now I'm caught up.
Win fucked the queen? That's news.
AnDUjar!!!!!!!
JM? News to who?
Philip?
Dislike Fan Duel very much
Ha! I fucked him too! But then again who didn't Phil fuck!?
Too soon?

And yet he's a slave to the numbers in other cases. Go figure.
Interesting watching Marwin at first. He waves at pitches rather like an air traffic control guy.
Robbed. And what a dick of an umpire.
NO NO NO NO NO NO.
The idea is not to pull Peralta here, who looks fired up. Tell him to put one in Correa's ribs then move on.
Bringing in Weissert. Mistake.
Told ya.
Well, turning this one off. Screwed by the ump, screwed by Boone. What's new.
This inning is torment, but it's great to see ICS torturing some other franchise.
Turn it back on! The twinks know how to fuck
Something up… Obama said it about Joe but it applies to ‘sota too.
Here comes another expensive strikeout.
Oh you pessimist. Let’s have some false hope here!
Temporary rule: Pessimism in contemplative retrospect, never in the moment.
Stanton sucks…
Stanton Stanton Stanton ...
THAT FUCKING LOSER! Knew it all along.
this is 100% on Boone. WTF washe thinking batting a guy who
a) sucks as a pinch hitter historically
b) Is injured
c) hasn't played in a while.
d) doesn't hit singles ( which is all we needed.)
Sorry, I was on the wrong thread.
PS stanton sucks.
does gleyber know that a single wins the game or is he going to try to hit a grand slam and strike out?
No. He does not.
He also doesn't know that a routine fly ball ties the game.
those two were balls!!!!!
They were. And he's still Gleyber.
I'm no gleyber fan, but he got skrewed.
Sure would be nice to have a good hitter available.
Fuckers.
THey got jobbed (except still 100% on boone)
I been downhearted Baby. I been downhearted Baby.
