...Despite the impression I gave in last night's post. It will also be on ESPN+, if you're in the mood to spend $10 for a month of it.
I'll probably stick with radio; if anything happens, John is the one I want telling me. Besides, YES is a pain; I use YouTube TV instead of cable, and YES was pulled off all streaming services a few years ago. (A late-season MLB.TV subscription and an unreliable VPN permit me to watch occasional games or parts of games; last night, my system failed before Judge and Stanton launched their dingers.)
Of course, this year MLB poked its nose back into the streaming tent in a way that makes its product more exclusive and less affordable. Commissioner Manfred must be praying, soullessly, that Judge will ring the gong before Friday's Apple TV game. I can't imagine a better way to spread baseball apathy than building up a monumental feat and then walling it off.
The Apple TV fee isn't much, but I know fans who would have major trouble installing the app, or even wrapping their heads around what it is. One friend in particular only watches games in a neighborhood bar called Guilfoil's. It doesn't have Prime Video (or, I'll assume, Apple TV), so one night a week it's a Yankeeless salloon, which can't be good for anyone. Imagine missing a great Yankee's historic accomplishment because you're out for a beer on a Friday night.

I’d think the dang blackout would be the dealbreaker for New Yorkers. I live in Iowa - an hour from the Field of Dreams. We can’t watch any games involving the Twins, eitherChicago team, Detroit, KC, or, as I just discovered, Milwaukee.
So, for me, the old schedule was good, I only missed a handful of Yankee games. Next year will suck hard.
Dunno about your friends - I’m 69, and have no trouble streaming all the major services. Even Apple+. But I have never had much luck spoofing my location with aVPN.
UPDATE: I just weakened and tossed ten bucks to ESPN, because I have no character, only to find that the game is blacked out. Exactly what I deserve.
Yeah, it is on YES.
"I don't think the Yankees have a great team at all"--- John Sterling, Sept 21, 2022
Donaldson, with his head up his ass, cost us an easy DP. Don’t know why people defend him. I can see what kind of night this is going to be.
So, Donaldson makes an inexplicably stupid play, and Michael Kay says, "That's one of the problems of the shift. Sometimes, nobody's there."
Um, no, that's the problem with having an overrated, over-the-hill jerk playing third base.
AB the First.
And Judge is still raking!!!
Never have Yankee fans at the Stadium been so disappointed to see a leadoff double.
Judge since the break.
.372 BA
.506 OBP
.853 SLG
27 HR in 54 games
49 runs
58 RBI
49 BB
Donaldson even looks like an asshole.
aaaaand another awful Donaldson at bat.
SLAMMER BY OC !
OH! Oswald-OH !!!
You gotta like this kid!!
He's great. Let's trade him for a mediocre pitcher.
Anonymous Bosch, that video says it all.
Publius- he really did say that, I heard it too! But he was making the case that in baseball nobody can carry a team like one player can in basketball… yet Judge has. John doesn’t give two fucks and will say anything now. I love it.
Every Yankee out a strikeout.
Is the hitting coach doing anything to prepare the batters? Or is it just “Remember - hit strikes hard!”
AB the Second, meh.
Roansy had struck out 9? He's 22 years old. We traded him to the Pirates a few years ago. The Yanks would still have him buried in High A ball.
Sevy looked good in his first AAAA rehab start.
AB the Third.
The Master's in great form. Judge's hit was a homer, then a foul, then a double.
Another Two-bagger!!
T'was Glorious Stang! Glorious!
Our bullpen sucks.
Do we have a reliever who can pitch a clean inning? Anybody? Hellloooo?
OMG, stop with the fucking wave you cretins.
This is NYC!
Well, Gleyber Day. Not exactly what we're waiting on, but he's got a 10 game hitting streak.
Just got home…saw The Yardbirds live. Looks like the Yanks have this game under control…
Looks like Bader’s wheels are working
AB the Fifth!!
Nothing close to the strike zone. Intentional unintentional walk.
2 for 4 with two doubles and a walk.
TODAY'S AT BATS
1st: Rizzo struck out swinging.
2nd: Rizzo struck out swinging.
5th: Rizzo struck out swinging.
7th: Rizzo grounded out to second.
Not a good day for the Riz.
Which Gleyber is this !?!
Another Gleyber Day!!!
Not sure our pen can hold this lead in the ninth.
Gleyber inning? Two HR this inning???
Definitely "like a good Gleyber" tonight. I prefer the Good Gleyber over that other stiff.
Yes. Although the first one was a patented Yankee Stadium HR to right, all of 355 feet. But it still counts.
Weissert.
Gotta throw strikes, man…
Yankees Win!!!
Thuhuh-uhuhuhuh-aaaaaahhhhahahahaah-UH! UH! UH! UH! Yankees WIN!!
Tatis once hit two grand slams in a single inning.
Something for Judge to shoot for tomorrow.
That was a close one.
This was more like it. The Pirates are awful and the Yanks let then know it tonight. There was more than enough offense, and I tried to focus on watching Severino tonight. I know it’s only the Pirates, but his velocity and location seemed excellent. At any rate, an upgrade over Montass.
Philly walks off the Jays in 10. Magic # is 8.
Yea!
Look like rain tomorrow. All of these damned hurricanes are going to kill Judge's incredible buzz.
Asking on SNY if Judge's is the greatest single-season performance by any NYC athlete. Interesting.
Well, can we list the other contenders?
Hoss, Ron Guidry had a season for the ages.
Winny, he was amazing! One of my all-time favorite years...
