Okay, I made up the last part. Maybe he hates beaches. Who cares?
Yesterday, he turned up under our tree, a Cashman Christmas cutie, plucked from the scrap heap while we were out navigating Walmart.
The next Gio Urshella? The next Mike Tauchman? An algorithm acquisition?
Probably, he'll be Scranton scrapple. Still, you never know. Sometimes, after flopping in repeat MLB auditions, these last-chancers figure out how to hit. Also, he signed a minor league deal, which means: Cheap.
Cashman is probably done with the big ticket free agents, but if history runs true, he will spend the week before Christmas scrounging for copper in the recycling bin.
Mitigating factor: The guy bats RH. Damn. We need lefties. Bah. Disregard this.

The things that give Brian an erection - trash heap pickups, no-name nothings, wannabe-has-beens and wandering somethings. there are a few of his favorite things.
The bigger question is, what is the crackhead going to sell to get his next fix?
And how many more years do we have Stanton and Hicks for?
Blake Perkins is still available, so don't fret.
This guy is just backfill for Scranton. But the fact that an outfielder who can't play baseball on the MLB level even gets an MiLB contract says volumes about the lack of outfield talent at the AAA level.
There is none. The cupboard is bare.
The minor league system has been gutted in trades for guys that Cashman or his idiot advisors fell in love with and grossly overpaid for with prospects. The Yankees desperately need some baseball veterans in decision-making roles who earned their way up the food chain, because this bunch of trust fund suits and their geek advisors haven't got a clue and their models for identifying 'talent' suck.
Doctor T, That deserves a PhD at the end of your title.
AMEN DR T!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, Archangel and Ken. Much obliged.
Enjoy your holidays, however you celebrate them!
Doctor T -
1) "The Yankees desperately need some baseball veterans in decision-making roles who earned their way up the food chain, because this bunch of trust fund suits and their geek advisors haven't got a clue and their models for identifying 'talent' suck."
This is true. Particularly for the amateur draft. They are fairly good with international signings (see below) but pretty much suck evaluating stateside.
So, well said.

This is also true. Especially in the pitching dept. I still think trading Waldichuck is going to be the big miss here. Basically we gave away a ton for a guy who is going to wind up as our Number Five Starter (and has arm issues.)
However, one small point...
3) If the cupboard is bare on the position player side it's because...
We just brought up two of our three top infield prospects.
Peraza will/should/betterfucking be our starting SS next season and
Cabera will/should/betterfucking make the 25 man roster as well.
We still have Volpe due to show up in 2023 as well.
That's pretty much a whole infield. Especially if they start giving Volpe a lot of reps at 3B in Scranton (which I think is the plan.)
A home grown IF of Volpe at 3B, Peraza at SS and Cabrera at 2B would be an impressive return from the farm.
Plus it frees up Gleyber to be traded for a Left Fielder.
And, if we are feeling kind towards Hal, saves him from having to pay 350M for a SS and another 300 for a 3B... OK screw that! Let's just say it allows the Yankees to spend big bucks elsewhere.
What we can't seem to draft and develop are outfielders and catchers. (Judge aside - plus that was a while ago)
I should have been more exact. The cupboard is bare at the AAA level for outfielders. Unless you count our lost man, Florial. (Trading Florial would be an act of mercy.)
The Yankees used to be great at developing catchers. Somewhere on the road to developing Sanchez, they lost the training module.
Against all odds, the Yankees managed to develop 3 excellent infield prospects. But how hard did Yankee fans have to fight to keep them from being traded away for the next Joey Gallo?

Oh I'm with you. They are idiots. I just wanted to give credit where it was due. And yes, I'm stunned they haven't traded them away for cans of tuna.
That said, supposedly there's some kind of deal in the works for something. Let's hope those guys are still on the team when the smoke clears.
Oh dear sweet addled 'Duque, you are so very silly.
Winnie!!!
He's a total stiff. Another Genius Cashman loser pickup!
