Look it sucks but...

If any of you saw the picture of Othani and Yamamoto hugging each other after winning the WBC it would be understandable to infer that the two of them were close (or became close) and worked all of this out last year.

It's why Othani did the big deferral but put in the out clause that basically said, "I'm doing this because you promise to get Yamamoto and if you don't I'm not staying."

This was well planned out.

We never stood a chance. It wasn't the extra twenty five million. Or even fifty.

Kid grows up as a lifetime fan of the Dodgers plus his friend picks the Dodgers. Plus they are a great team and organization. And they offered over 300 million dollars.

Done deal in the womb.

The only question is what do the Yankees do now.

There are a couple of Japanese pitchers worth getting but we all fear the "Ghost of Kei Igawa" who was the consolation (booby) prize after losing out on Dice K.

I like trading with the Sox for Dylan Cease plus Yoan Moncada. Not that Moncada is good. He's a washout, but he plays third and we need to end "The Curse of Yoan Moncada", and get the universe straightened out.

These are not tears. Well maybe a few.

We also need to sign Hader for the pen.

There ARE real moves to be made.   If the Yankees off season is ONLY getting Soto and not acquiring any other top talent, like they did last year,  then yes, they truly are not worth following anymore.

The next couple of weeks will tell all.

But trade WHAT, exactly, for Dylan Cease, or whoever? There's nothing left—unless they're going to move Vertigo on and sign Bellinger. Which they won't do.

We're doomed. Yet again.

I repeat, we've gone from Mickey Mantle to Mickey Mouse.

If he chose the Dodgers, good luck for him. If The Yankees arrogance of we offered 300 million, take it or leave it, "we are The Yankees," is what transpired. Shame on Hal and his motley GM.

Alternatively, JM - one could also say that we went from Yogi to Dookie.

On another note...didn't we see stories about the new, trimmed down, more athletic Stanton two or three years ago? So it's supposed to get different results this time?

Once you stop taking the juice or the cream or whatever the fuck it might be, you break down and never, ever, perform like you did when you were on it.

He should call up Giambi and ask him how it goes. It's not pretty.

So our first instincts were right. Yamamoto was in L.A. because that's where he wanted to sign. And Ohtani paved the way for his friend with that deferred contract. All makes perfect sense now. The guy who really got suckered was Mutts owner Steve Cohen. Cohen even had Yamamoto over at his house for dinner. And Yamamoto, (what a goddamned fox), eating dinner at Cohen's mansion, knowing all the time that he had zero intent to sign with the Mutts. I gotta admit, Yamamoto's balls are bigger than mine!
