The gods place bets with loaded dice,
And all our earthly dreams betray,
But listen to one clown's advice,
Goodbye, cruel world; it’s opening day.
The politicians scrounge for power,
With consequences we shall pay.
But somewhere, it's our finest hour,
Goodbye, cruel world; it's opening day.
And all our earthly dreams betray,
But listen to one clown's advice,
Goodbye, cruel world; it’s opening day.
The politicians scrounge for power,
With consequences we shall pay.
But somewhere, it's our finest hour,
Goodbye, cruel world; it's opening day.
Our weary age is full of war,
The daily news brings dark dismay,
So surf the dreams worth living for,
Goodbye, cruel world; it’s opening day.
The daily news brings dark dismay,
So surf the dreams worth living for,
Goodbye, cruel world; it’s opening day.

A Poem by My Cat, Oliver Tiberius:
Litter Tears
Litter Tears
Flowing Flowing
As I'm Going
Never on the Floor
Nestor on the Bump
My Tears begin to Clump
My Heart goes
Thump Thump Thump
Never on the Floor
This Team looks pretty Bad
I feel more Sad than Mad
Past Gleyber up the Middle
I Eat up all my Kibble
Never on the Floor
Want to watch the Yankees this year? Guess how much it will cost to see all 162 games: Over $ 1300.00! Here is a breakdown:
https://www.marketwatch.com/story/heres-how-much-cord-cutters-have-to-pay-to-watch-mlb-games-over-1-000-if-youre-a-yankees-fan-245dd4ee?mod=mw_latestnews.
IIHIIF tradition at its finest.
and here is your opening day joke...
Knock Knock
Who's there?
The 2024 Yankees.
The 2024 Yankees who?
The 2024 Yankees who... didn't address the rotation, look shaky in the infield, are still over reliant on oft injured ballplayers on the down side of their careers, and will finish in fourth place.
Good one Doug & el duque...
Today's starting lineup:
Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
Juan Soto (L) RF
Aaron Judge (R) CF
Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
Anthony Volpe (R) SS
Alex Verdugo (L) LF
Jose Trevino (R) C
Oswaldo Cabrera (S) 3B
Thanks Doug and All ! IIHIIFIIC is the only way to keep my sanity.
I could NOT deal with this team without you all! BLESS ALL YOU IIHIIFIIC merry pranksters, let the pain/games begin!
Will we surprise eveyone and have good hitting and good pitching and win?
Or will we be 8-0 down after 3 innings and have 2 hits on the entire night?
LOL, here we go. Cortes won’t last 4 innings
Welp
And … we’re off. Who said the bullpen would be burned out in July or thereabouts? Won’t make it to April.
This is going to be a team that might be capable of mounting a comeback, but when they're ahead probably won't be so good at pinning it down.
I did predict Nestor would be gone within four, but I also predicted that that prediction wouldn't necessarily come true. Guess I was righter than I thought.
He had his one fine year, one All-Star appearance. Like Trevino, now just the long slide to Palookaville.
And this is the continuing saga of Stanton in numbers:
Exit Velocity: 85.9mph
Distance: 25ft
Launch Angle: -3deg
Ah, spring, the time when all baseball fans have hope
... for an inning.
Not even that long
I wonder if we can GIDP to end all 9 innings. That would at least get Elias something to do.
Pathetic AB by the awful Trevino.
Get your tickets now!
It's like 2023 never ended!!
Umpire way off, in our favor.
Did Ohtani bet on the Yanks or something
Should we tank?
I think we already are.
Yankees all-time record without the Starr Insurance patch: 2,597 games over .500
Yankees record since adding the Starr Insurance patch: 7 games under .500
The Starr Insurance Curse
Giancarlo goes underground:
Exit Velocity: 77.7mph
Distance: 2ft
Launch Angle: -51deg
Tanks for the memories, another crappy start to a season
3/4 innings have ended in an inning ending DP.
about as clutch as an automatic transmission.
Three innings, three double plays to end them. Good start
Four innings. Don't mind me. I've started the long weekend early
here comes the flood
first of 300 rbi for Soto?
Ump calling pitches clearly low as strikes for Judge.
Sore Core Call
nobody beats the Rizz
A Stantonian foul grounder. A Stantonian swing at a bad pitch. A Stantonian whiff.
Fuck.
but they sure do hit him a ton
Bye bye Valdez.
AA lol!
I look up - I look down - I look up - I look down
At least we’re back in the game…
It could be a reason why Nasty's hammy and groiny squawk all the timey
The wizard of Oz!
Oswaldo!!!
the Wizard of OZ hits it to Mahz
Giancarlo does it again!
Exit Velocity: 57mph
Distance: 3ft
Launch Angle: -46deg
He’s hit the ball a total distance of 30 feet
OMG!! We're going to win 150 games this season!
Here's what happens. Whether it's this week or in a month, at some point, we'll string together five in a row and Brian will start waving his pumped penis around like a victorious gamecock. Two days later, we'll begin the skid of all skids.
Don't waver! Don't fold! Don't worry! We will suck. We DO. NOT. HAVE. THE. ROSTER. to win.
The Comeback Kids of '24!
Nice to have a real left fielder…
Second game of the season, and already will have to deal with the "only available on Apple TV+" crap.
I actually have Apple TV+ as part of a promotion, but it still pisses me off that they outsource so many games to stations not on basic cable.
Soto!
Great throw.
Nice warble.
That's the reason we got Soto .... defense.
Lee Harvey Oswaldo is on a 162 game home run pace. Volpe will hit .500 snd Soto will lead the world in outfield assists.
And nobody got hurt yet!
And Just like that FUCK Houston
Whoo hoo
Still does not alter the shambles the front office and team is but always nice to win
Irrational exuberance today only increases the pain later.
My prediction has not changed.
I am glad I didn't watch the game. I would have had a stroke by the fourth and would also need a new TV.
Just finished dinner…
Yankees Win!!!
ranger - at least now you don't have to bring your dinner back up
Thu-uhuhuhuhuh Yankees win.
Had to be out and about today, but just watching this on the replay. Like two different games.
What does it all mean? I dunno. A better effort by Nestor than it looked like it would be...and yet, 4 ER in 5 IP? Hmm.
Bullpen looking...okay. We'll see how long that lasts. The "little guys" did well, and Rizzo seems like he's back.
On the other hand...Stanton looks as bad as ever. Anyone else notice, too, as he slowed down going into first on his 7th-inning groundout? I wonder if he'll last the season.
But hey: a win is a win, and a win against Houston in Houston is sweeter than most. No more complaints—we have the whole season for those!
