28 Days later... an old fashioned, from-the-git-go, laugher

Finally, a chance to breathe.

A ninth inning where the lone drama was whether Jose Trevino's knuckler is his  true future.

A game without angst, without anger, a chance to reflect upon and channel-hop to LeBron or hand-woven Home Shopping pillowcases.

The type of game that long ago lured us to the Yankees - once an Evil Empire, now just evil.

You could say the Yankees wasted a great start by Carlos Rodon, or that Oswaldo's batting average keeps shrinking, and the bullpen still needs arms - but I'm gonna let go of the drama.

We needed a laugher, a game without pain, and we got one.

Today, the rubber match in Milwaukee, then on to Baltimore, the first fist-fight of 2024.  Enjoy the Calgon Bath Oil moment...

Now we know. All we have to do is score 15 runs and we can win every game from here on out.

That makes it pretty simple.

JM,

I believe the over/under is 4.5.

Problem is the 0,1,2 run games. Well actually the problem is/are bad managing, bad coaching, bad front office, bad medical staff...

You’re being too kind Rufus. You neglected to give credit to our illustrious owner.

JM said...

Good point, Rufus. Even if we score 15 runs, we could still lose 16-15.

But not with our crack bullpen. Or is that cracking?

Dick, we all know the fish rots from the head

I say give the team to Haley Swindal. She looks better in a dress than Hal and knows more about baseball.

Side note: today is Volpe's birthday! Whoo hoo. Maybe he'll get a hit or two.

Hey, great to see. But of course, Yanks beat up on Joe Ross (ERA: 5.40), Thiago Vieira (5.68, and no, I'm not making that name up), and Owen Miller (18.00). Didn't touch Janson Junk, though (hmm).

Let's see if they can keep it up.

JM,

I concur with your management plan.

JM - where did you see Hal in a dress?

Asking for a friend that passed away many years ago….

Actually it's Swindal's kid that is our greatest hope.

As far as I'm concerned he can start today.

I still think Haley would look better in a dress.

Judge didn’t miss that fastball

JM said...

Looks like Judge is hitting the pitches he normally hits.

JM said...

AA, haven't you seen the photos? How do you think Cashman still has a job?

I still vote for Haley. She should have been given the team instead of Hal. But you know, she's a girl.

BTR999 said...

How ‘bout we move Volpe out of the leadoff spot? The fuck are we waiting for?

Pocono Steve said...

These tightrope innings are amusing and all, but how about a 1-2-3 inning from Stroman?

JM said...

Surely you jest.

JM said...

Birthday boy!!!!

JM said...

Stroman can't put in five strong.

ranger_lp said...

Hi folks… Knicks won…looks like Judge is getting on track…

ranger_lp said...

All of this with two outs…

JM said...

Brewers pen looks pretty bad here.

JM said...

So where are the Knicks in terms of the playoffs?

JM said...

Lot of runs again.

Pocono Steve said...

JM, Knicks are up 3-1 in the first round of the playoffs against the Sixers. Game 5 is at home.

Hinkey Haines said...

This game is getting pretty close to being Boone proofed. Not sure it’s there yet, but close.

As for the Knicks, they may have a statue of Jalen Brunson on the Garden roof by mid-week.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

They have a chance at winning this one.

The closer isn't available though. He pitched last night.

JM said...

Thanks, Steve.

Jake Bauers is pitching the ninth. With a Folly Floater! Good man.

JM said...

Bauers is throwing Old Timers Day caliber pitches.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

They load the bases against a guy with a 59 mph heater and can't score.

How ordinary.

ranger_lp said...

Why are we walking hitters up by 10?

ranger_lp said...

Yankees win…

JM said...

Thuuuuuuuuh Yankees win!!!

BTR999 said...

Happy for the last two wins, but that 9th inning with Bauers throwing BP Grisham, Trammel and Stanton couldn’t touch him? Are they that bad at hitting?

AboveAverage said...

Looks like I missed another 15 run explosion due to me paying my respects to Guy Richie.

Baltimore - here “she” (HAL IN A DRESS) comes!

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Divine looked better than HAL in a dress. FABULOUS!

Roofus - perhaps a doctor for you?
