Three games behind Baltimore (loss column), only four ahead of Boston. And the Redsocks are coming, the Redsocks are coming...

1. Being swept by Cincinnati, over the 4th of July, is treason.

2. The last three weeks look less like a slump and more like Yankee reality.

3. This collapse will cost us in keeping Juan Soto.

4. Aaron Boone is gone. He just doesn't know it.

5. Anyone who Brian Cashman acquires in trades will flounder.

6. If DJ LeMahieu is traded, he will suddenly get hot.

7. If Gleyber Torres is traded, he will suddenly start running out grounders.

8. Tonight, Boston will run on every first pitch.

9. No matter how disastrous this season turns out to be, Prince Hal & Cooperstown Cashman will stay.

10. Have a nice day, chumps.

Maybe we need a good old fashioned Yankee/Sox brawl tonight. Get everyone’s blood boiling.

Thank you, dear leader. You are the first person in a very long time to call me a chump and I sorta like it.

I would once again like to go on the record and say that I would love to see David Cone manage these New York Yankees.

But he has more of a spine than the intern would like to have in the dugout.

Biden could be available to take over, maybe as soon as next week.

And there’s always Nicolas Cage (in character - of course)

If we want to see a Yankees game this year, we should do it at a Manhattan bar, not the stadium. Fuck Hal. No more $$$ for you!

Boone looked worse than Biden in his post game presser yesterday. Just nonsense. I think we all realize that Boone will be here all year regardless, unless we lose 15 in a row (not out of the question). But who in the org would take over? Shelley Duncan? One of the coaches? They would be even worse apparatchiks than boone.

Shelly Duncan is a very inspired choice.

Cage would only stay until the end of the season - viewing like a broadway play - performances daily. Love to see that.

JM - once you're awake and have shaken yourself into consciousness I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

Hey Doug - why not Jiminy Glick. He'd rock the uniform.

We don’t have to worry about the DJ or Torres part, because no one is talking them. It will be more like how will Ben Rice, The Martian and Spencer Jones will do with their new teams

When do we get to "Trade Judge, trade Soto, trade Cole"? And by "we," I mean "us" here--not the Billion Dollar Baby and his henchmen.

JM in response to the last post, mentioning how the Yanks still had enough to win in 2009.

That was possible—despite what had already been years and years of terrible Cashman management—by the Core of Four, Jeter, Posada, Pettitte, and The Great One.

How telling that the people Brian Cashman most adamantly wanted gone from that Yankees team were Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada. He has absolutely no thought for this team or this game, save for how he can secure and enhance his own position.

Hoss - I Hiss on Cashman

Hoss - I Boo on Boone

Steve, my version is more along the release Grisham/LeMahieu/half the bullpen and fire Boone lines

The play of Grisham + Torres yesterday was inexcusable, so of course boone invented some whacked out bullshit to cover for them. He can’t even gaslight correctly any more, so maybe this will be his last year.

Again, totally inexcusable. The crowd should let them have it tonight.

I like Shelley Duncan. In the first place, he has the same first name as Shelley Fabares. In the second place, his last name is easily transfigured into Shelley Duncan Hines. Sweet.

But yes, Boone will continue to survive, because...well, Cashman and Hal. And Hoss, you are correct about 2009. It's all part of the curse of Hal.

When Shelley Duncan was in the minors, he used to critique movies on Twitter. When we pointed this out, he stopped, complaining that the world was changing for the worse.

I would love to see him as Yankee manager, rendering his opinions on everything.

Carl J. Weitz said...

If rendering opinions on everything qualifies a person for manager, I'm the perfect candidate!
Maybe even GM.

They are so bad. Why? Why must this be!?

Fuck Hal.

Doug K. said...

If he were Byron Shelly Duncan he could give his opinions in prose.

Doug K. said...

Percy Shelly. Lord Byron was his friend. I mis-remembered.

I should have just gone with Shelly Winters.

JM said...

That's Shelley. With two e's.

Like Headley.

JM said...

Don't forget to put the Bysshe in Percy Bysshe Shelley. Like Boone puts the Boo back in baseball.

Oh, bysshe-bysshe! You're taking all the romance out of this for me!

BTR999 said...

Even if there was someone credible who could come in here with the stones to really shake things up, he would never get hired by ownership. Any Boone replacement would have all his bad tendencies and could even be worse.

Good players like Judge, Soto, Cole, promising players like Rice, Dominguez, Jones deserve better than what this team is willing to give.

Speaking of which, one topic I haven’t seen mentioned here is Cole’s contract. He has an opt out clause after this season. He’ll be 34 in September. Interesting to see how the team handles it and how Cole handles it, especially if the team completely collapses this year.

JM said...

He should go somewhere where he can win a ring. I would.

acrilly said...

Useless sad stat…the Yankees have not lead at all in their last 11 loses. Second useless sad stat, since Cole’s return to the rotation, starters ERA is 7.76 in 17 games

Just missed the last few innings. Helpful to my sanity given the (corporate mouthpiece) announcers. Still hate the cheer the mallo cup douchebags.

We now... of fuck it.
