Happy Tip of the Iceberg Day!

Is Keneshaw Mountain Landis available for the Commissioner's job? We're going to need him.

Thank you, El Duque. I was hoping this topic might come up today, like a piece of trash swirling to the surface of the Spuyten Duyvil...

I am honored to be confused with our fearless leader, but 'twas me, oh Bit.

Rob Manfred, who pursued A-Rod like Ahab going after his whale...won't have much to say about this. Hey, gambling's a big sponsor.

Wait until this all leads back to Ohtani, the guy they want to be the new Babe Ruth. It's as if Ruth had gone to the Yankees in 1920...and been found to be Arnold Rothstein's best friend.

You can't sell gambling all day and then complain when somebody follows suit.

I'm available for the job and up to the task. Make my post go viral so that I get the job, and everyone here is guaranteed a mid-six to 7 figure salary!

Odds are that Pete Rose is still betting on baseball . . .

Odds are that Pete is dining on angel hair pasta. Or perhaps he's chowing down on Devil Dogs.

Bless you, JM. Got a lot going on and spaced out. My apologies.

I said this a while ago, the baseball industry getting into bed with the gambling industry leads to corruption of the game. Right now, it's the players. But who is in a better position to corrupt the game than the ruling classes? How would we even know?

I don't say this as someone who is morally opposed to gambling. I play poker on occasion (I'm actually pretty good). I've been known to buy a lotto ticket and I've made my share of bar room bets. But I don't run a sports team and I wouldn't bet on a game my softball team plays.

The sports industry's greedy involvement with the gambling industry puts the outcome of every game under suspicion. I feel that way every time the Yankees hype up another season, only to flame out when it matters.

Who did management bet on and did it affect the outcome of the game or the season? Suddenly, all those dubious roster, pitching and lineup moves come under darker suspicion.

Precisely, Doc. The gambling connection undermines fan faith in the sport. It's just another way for the rich to get richer, if they follow that path. And considering how greedy the bastards are, some of them are likely going that way.
