"Pearl has performed thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) surgery on Merrill Kelly, Chris Carpenter and Josh Beckett, among other players, over the years. It is still unknown if Judge is dealing with TOS, or if the stress fracture is the only injury."
So says The Athletic. Just how doomed are we? And--as has been said here repeatedly--can somebody tell Judge to stop diving for balls?

Switched browsers, but also tried deleting this site's bookmark from my favorites list on my usual browser. Let's see if this works.
BINGO!!! It worked! Fucking technology. I hate technology! The stoopid things I have to do.... I'd like to take a medieval bar mace and smash my computer to smithereens, then throw the bits out the window.
I don't know much about thoracic outlet syndrome, but I think the prognosis is much worse than for a stress fracture. They should be able to differentiate TOS from a stress fracture of the first rib, just on clinical exam. The fact that they're having trouble ruling out TOS tells me that the edema from the stress fracture is really bad. Must be causing tingling and numbness by pressing on nerves and blood vessels. Very bad.
He's obviously had this for quite awhile now. It's pretty incredible that Yankee management let this fester for this long without any tests. They should've detected the stress fracture much earlier. Especially considering that this is the SECOND TIME that Judge has had this same injury, a stress fracture to the first rib on the right side.
If you read Kevin's (great) book, The New York Game, you'll see that Yankee management has a history of letting their stars' injuries fester.
Thanks, JM! And while in those days, they paid their stars as little as possible, and could replace them from their countless farm teams...today, they're just handing over millions for nothing. Makes a lot of sense.
Yes, absolutely, great book by Hoss! But they never learn. Just like the Titanic lookouts had only one pair of binoculars that night. As Herman Hesse wrote, "What can you do except laugh?"
