Jazz Chisholm
Not sorry to see Jazz go.
This picture says it all. Not just about Jazz but about a clubhouse culture where he thought it would be ok.
Billy Martin would have slapped it out of his mouth. Jorge Posada would have slapped it out of his mouth. Hell, Suzyn Waldman would have slapped it out of his mouth had she not been up in the booth.
See Ya.
Spenser Jones
It’s appalling reading Reddit and seeing how many people want to trade Spenser Jones because “he not a good outfielder.”
The kid is a rookie! Most of the stadiums he was playing in he was seeing for the first time. He also played right field occasionally and I seem to recall some Left Field as well. Every stadium plays differently. He’s also in those cities for the first time.
I think he did great. He cut down on the K’s. Started to develop a two
strike swing and seems very much like a gamer. He also allows payroll flexibility.
There’s a lot of “The Yankees should trade him for Steven Kwan.”
Kwan has an expiring contract. He's a free agent in 2028. also, He plays Left not Center. “We will move Belli to Center”
So take your ageing Gold Glove Left Fielder and stick him in Center?
Well we do love playing people out of position. Also, while Kwan might be a good lead off guy, Spencer Jones will be a better hitter than
him when all is said and done.
Playing Luis Garcia Jr. at 2B.
No. Just. No. He’s not a good infielder. It’s been tried. He’s not good.
But it’s more than that. A team’s infielders save outs not give the opponent extra outs. Saving outs means saving pitches. It means your starters go deeper. Your bullpen doesn’t get overworked. Add the fact that “some” of the Yankee starters are great but are on the emotionally fragile side and you can see why the infield needs to be as efficient as possible.
I’ll cut some slack for George Lombard Jr. because he’s a rookie. First
time around the league. All infields are different too.
Brad Ausmus To The Astros
The Yankee Bench Coach is interviewing with Houston. He’s been interviewed by them before. I think he gets it.
Bring up Shelly “AAA Manager of the Year” up
to be Boone’s bench coach and, G-d willing, eventual replacement. He knows the kids and was, what was it again?
Oh yeah, “ AAA Manager of the Year”. Probably because he’s good at it.
Don't forget to vote!

Hear, hear, Doug! I've been appalled by the "Jones for Kwan" scuttlebutt. Steven Kwan is 3 years older than Spencer, and hit 3 home runs last year. This would be an awful acquisition.
They need to keep Spencer and develop him. And you're right: Garcia to 2B is a bad idea.
Agreed . . . .
(minus the GREED part - PLEASE oh PLEASE)
Thanks. BTW I don't know why my recent posts have a "read more" does anyone?
Thought that was intentional on your part! Must be something with your settings?
A good manager would've reined in Jazz and made him a much better player. This fail is on Aaron Boone. You think Pat Murphy would've allowed this kind of clown show?
Spencer Jones only needs to stay within himself versus right handed pitching. He's already there against lefty pitching. I think he hit almost .400 against lefties, right? What he does against righties is take gigantic uppercut home run swings on every pitch, and it's got to stop. That the manager and coaches can't straighten that out is a travesty. If he stops the bull shit against righty pitching, we'll have a really great hitter.
It could be that he's not a 40, 50 home run hitter. He might only be a 20-25 home run hitter. That's all right. As long as he hits over .300. No complaints here with .320 batting average and 20 home runs.
It's absolutely fucking amazing that veterans who suck like Trent Grisham get a pass on their defense, but whenever a rookie makes the slightest mistake in the outfield, the entire internet is up in arms. What can I say? A lot of stupid Yankee fans out there.
Explains why Donald Jackass Trump was elected twice. Pretty good chance too that Trump will never leave the White House, except in a hearse. All he has to do is declare all elections suspended, due to a national emergency & that he will be President until there is a new election, which will never occur. The experts sure were right about how democracy is a fragile thing. All it took was one jackass (and a whole lot of voting jackasses) to ruin it.
They should not get any one over the age of 28 as a free agent. Just not a good idea. This ball club needs to get younger, more athletic, more talented. I don't want any 32 year olds to play 2B.
They should get Teruaki Sato. 3-4 years at 3B is not a long time. He should get better.
Now, the unfortunate thing is that the coaching on this here team SUCKS. So wouldn't be surprising to see Sato come here and make 50 errors at 3B in half a season. Then they'll be forced to move him to LF, where he'll make 50 more errors in half a season.
So, do you want offense or do you want defense at 3B? That is the question. Of course, Cashman can't even find a good defensive 3B. So it's Sato or nothing next year. That's why I think they should get Sato, even if he makes 100 errors a year.
Think of all the business possibilities: Teruaki Teriaki, Japanese restaurant in Yankee Stadium. Frozen food brand at the supermarket too. Nationwide restaurant chain too. Get your Teriaki from Teruaki.
This would be even better than Righetti Spaghetti. "Hey, I like that!"
But who we kidding? The Yankees have gotten extremely risk averse since 2010. They've signed very few Japanese players. They no longer seriously pursue them. They'll make half hearted show offers, obviously just to please the media and the dumb fans. These will come up short, and HAL will shrug and say "hey, we tried our best", knowing that there was zero chance of getting the player.
If we get Sato, I'd be totally, absolutely, completely , FUCKING SHOCKED. It ain't going to happen. Don't get your hopes up for nothing. It didn't happen with Yamamoto. They didn't even make offers on any of the Japanese free agents last year. And it going to happen with Sato.
Yeah, lots of dumbass Yankee fans out there. The guy who said that we need to swing harder on every pitch so that the one or two hits that we get per game is a home run? Yep, that was a Yankee fan.
I'm sure he's probably saying that Tampa lost because they didn't swing for the fences on every pitch, that the only way Tampa could have beat Milwaukee is by making every hit a home run. There comes a point where you cannot argue with stupidity.
Hoss keeps hammering at the idea that we get nothing for these guys, and I agree with him. It’s a disgrace. That’s like the most basic general managing move, at least get something for somebody. We get garbage and we give good stuff up. We give up stuff and we get nothing in return. We don’t develop people and we don’t draft the right people. Fuck Brian.
I approve this message. Right on all counts, Doug!
Oh, you know my right wing relatives?
Believe me, Jones isn’t going anywhere…why? Team wants to market its young stars. Chisolm? Gone, and won’t be missed..Volpe will be starting next year at 2b. 1b/DH overcrowded with Garcia/Rice/Stanton/Judge. Something’s gotta give,
Yes, Doug, Billy would have slapped the lollipop out of his the clown's mouth. Then again, Baboone would not be the manager and Genius Cashman the GM. The BS would not go on. Very interesting you tube of Goose Gossage killing the Yankees on You Tube.
Thank you, Bitty. And yeah—exactly. Maybe Cashman's greatest flaw as a GM is that he never anticipates. It's a if he can't conceive that somebody's contract runs out at some point.
