Father Joe: A Big Pappi Threat to our Scranton Kids?

Special to IT IS HIGH... from our Wilkes Barre Correspondent MONS MEG

PAPA DI TUTTI PAPI (or, IS THIS WHAT HAPPENED TO ERIC DUNCAN-MIFFLIN?)

SCRANTON _ Rev. Joseph F."Father Joe" Sica stands charged with perjury for allegedly lying to a grand jury about his affiliation with a reputed crime boss.

In court last year, Father Joe denied any relationship with Russell Bufalino, including knowing or ever meeting the man.

Then the cock crowed.

Along with being photographed numerous times with Buffalino, Father Joe last year wrote to the governor's wife to seek a pardon for his "friend," you guessed it, Bufalino.

Along with serving as chaplain of MercyHospital, Father Joe cares for an ailing sister, hears confessions, baptizes babies and escorts friends before the state Gaming Control Board. He's taken vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. In 2003, Father Joe authored Embracing Change: 10 Ways to Grow Emotionally and Spiritually.

When taken into custody, he was found to have $1,000 in his possession. He also had a late model Jeep and a handgun.

EPILOGUE: We at IT IS HIGH stress that everyone is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY, and ALL ARE CHILDREN UNDER GOD. Neverthelesss, we hereby thank God for the arrest of Father Joe. His defrockication could save our Scranton farmhands from wasted prayers. Good job, God!

Dahling, thank you ever so much for your reportage. While I rarely think about Scranton farmhands (or baseball, for that matter), it is good to know that their prayers will likely switch to a more reliable source. Ciao!

Maybe they should be calling this one the Black Frox scandal...

Say it ain't so, Father Joe.
