Yanks Go "Old and Slow " as they Bag Former Star Cameron to Patrol Center

As the Yankees continue to redeem hedge fund investments for tangible assets, a huge deal has slipped under the radar.

"Old and Slow" is the new baseball mantra for the Yankees, as they add on yet another former great, Mike Cameron.

Mike used to run a 4.4 forty on grass, and could track down everything within 200 yards of his CF spot. His speed has diminished to about a 7.4 forty which is the same as Fred Robbins ( DT for the Giants ) for those of you who follow football.

His arm strength used to be rated 5.0. Now, it takes two relays to get an "in-play " ball back to second, but his accuracy remains stellar.

As for his .241 average, that is only a drop of about 15 points from what Melky was putting up, but Mike's years and years and years of experience will cause him to blend in well with Mariano, Jorge, Derek and, hopefully, a fine old arm like Derek Lowe ( is that his name?).

There is just something about ballplayers in their late thirties that "bonds" around the buffet table.

And, before long, the average age, speed, range, arm strength, endurance and hustle of this Yankee roster will mirror those spry CEOs manning the suites above.

Look out Toronto, here we come.
