Woo hoo! A big guy (6'3" 235 lb -though Baseball Reference.com says 205 lb) who hits like a little guy (36 HR in 2500 minor league PAs). It looks like he cut down his swing after the 2006 season to make better contact and it worked. He's spent a half-season at AAA. RF appears to be his defensive position.

As I understand it, the Yankees will have to keep Hoffmann on the major league roster in 2010 or give him back to the Dodgers.

Fun Fact 1 - the Phillies got Shane Victorino from the Dodgers as a Rule 5 pick after the 2004 season.

Fun Fact 2 - I have a second cousin named Jamie Hoffman (one N).

Fuck it. He's just someone I'll invest in emotionally before he gets traded for a journeymen pitcher and a third-string AA utility infielder. After watching Ian get moved out, I'll never pay attention to our minors again.
