That's how Billy Martin always picked his pitching coaches: who was his favorite drinking buddy at the time. And when George got mad at Billy he'd fire the drinking buddy and hire somebody who didn't drink anything stronger than ginger ale. Leadership like that is what earns an owner a gigantic monument.
