You are right on.
Joe goes too much by the book.
A starting pitcher not named Hughes, who has dominated for 8 innings with a low pitch count, should always be given the chance to pitch a complete game shut-out.
I fear that Joe just doesn't want to be subject to criticism.
But he violated a long-standing principle of baseball.
And nearly lost because of it.
