Help. I am stuck in a group of insufferable Redsock fans, and I am losing ground. I can't take any more talk about Babe Benintendi. The only thing I have going is David Price: They hate hearing about David Price.

BOSTON IS RUNNING TOO HOT.

THEY ARE GOOD BUT NOWHERE NEAR "THIS" GOOD.

THEY ARE NOT 1998 NY YANKEES GOOD.

I BELIEVE THEY KNOW WE ARE BETTER THAN THEM, AND THEY HAVE TO PAD THEIR LEAD AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE BEFORE WE START PLAYING THEM REGULARLY LATER ON THIS SEASON.

WE HAVE BEAT THEM THIS SEASON, AND WILL CONTINUE TO BEAT THEM THIS SEASON.

BOSTON WILL NOT CARRY THIS ALL THE WAY.

You're right, ALL-CAPS, we can beat them head-to-head.

And no, I don't think they're as good as the 1998 Yankees, primarily because they don't have that sort of depth, particularly when it comes to pitching.

BUT...the 2001 Mariners were not nearly as good as the 1998 Yanks, either, and they broke our wins record.

They just played very smart, steady ball, and caught teams at the right time. It caught up to them in the playoffs...but only because they had to play us. And if, say, Jeremy Giambi had known enough to slide in the ALDS, they might never have had to face us.

With all these teams tanking and clanking nowadays, who knows, Boston might never really get challenged.
