Losing time, too…

Bases loaded, no outs. Stanton.

1-1

Volpe kills the rally.

JM said...

Of course.

JM said...

Gil is back.

JM - you are !

AboveAverage said...

Can’t wait for Williams to get the call….

JM said...

Stanton, RBI. Second one.

AA, only if the game is close & in the later innings. Gotta be sure the moment - I mean, pineapple - is ripe.

TheWinWarblist said...

Bullpen bringing the gnashing of teeth and lamentations of the fans this inning.

Hinkey Haines said...

I am well past lamentations. I will scoff, I will lambaste, I will excoriate, I will vituperate - but I will not lament.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Well said, Hinkey.

So, for once, Boone stupidly tries to get the extra out from his starter...and gets away with it. Mazel tov. Still a long way to go, though.

HoraceClarke66 said...

Amazing what bad hitters we have. Wells now down to .209. Chisholm at .237; he has 2 HR, 6 RBI, 9 walks and 28 Ks over the last MONTH. Oy.

Hinkey Haines said...

Cashman is a Professional Incompetent. He just did what he does best. Worst? Same thing.

JM said...

Exactly, Think. And Hoss, I'm always amazed at how bad our hitters are, collectively. It's astonishing we have even a .500 record.

JM said...

Hink, not think. Fucking fuck fuck.

Hinkey Haines said...

Don’t worry, JM. I don’t often get accused of thinking so it was nice to see.

Who needs Williams to blow games when you have Douval?

HoraceClarke66 said...

You know, I think that—as somebody here said—Doval may have been the real disaster in those deadline trades. Bednar seems to have some cajones. Bird is another bit of Cashie's wishful thinking, a guy who a simple perusal of the stats would have revealed is just not good, anywhere.

Doval is...an idiot. Comes in, starts getting behind batters, gets a perfect DP ball to get out of it—and throws that away. Then, backs up home after Altuve's hit, pegs the ball down to third when it's too late to get anyone. We're just lucky that didn't sail away and score the tying run.

Once again, Cashie has acquired a ballplayer with no inquiry into his game smarts or intestinal fortitude. And it shows.

I think it was Doug K. who called that, come to think of it. Doug, as usual, you knew your stuff.

Yankees give away outs like Halloween candy…

WTG Bednar!!!

ranger_lp said...

How can every fucking trade at the deadline go south like this? On paper this was all great…

Hinkey Haines said...

Isn’t that why the Yankees think they’re successful? They care more about paper than performance.

HoraceClarke66 said...

I take back what I said about Bednar. How the fuck do you walk the tying run in there? Did they pinch-hit Ted Williams? And yay, he does his little clap and dance at the end of the season. Yes, you did not actually put your team behind, asshole.

Doug K. said...

Thanks Hoss. Now watch Dotel throw Domiguez under the bus after the game when the fault is his.

ranger_lp said...

Grisham!!!

HoraceClarke66 said...

And here's more of our crackerjack lineup. How is it that Ben Rice—2 HRs, 7 RBI since June 24th—cannot be challenged for his spot in the lineup? Volpe, down to .219 and falling, his power spree apparently over.

JM said...

Oh yeah!

HoraceClarke66 said...

That was a relief—especially after there was yet ANOTHER mental mistake with Grisham taking ball three.

JM said...

When the mistakes and misplays are so frequent, it's hard to figure out which ones are normal and forgivable.

ranger_lp said...

Yankees Win!!!

JM said...

Thuuuuuuuuuh Yankees win!

JM said...

That was a big Yankees win.

HoraceClarke66 said...

All right, well, give Bednar his props. But yet another game full of ridiculously bad play, and very little hitting.

Pocono Steve said...

I went to the game, and it wasn't a debacle! Woo hoo!

JM said...

Congratulations, Steve.

BTR999 said...

Was never a fan, TBH

BTR999 said...

Had they blown this one, Boone’s seat would’ve gone from red-hot to white-hot.

Big HR. from Grisham, who might be our most clutch hitter this year.

Giants beat Buffalo, Dart was ok! The Giants and Yankees may not win again on the same day this year.

Also nice start by Gil!
