Road trip saga before tonight's carnage starts:

Saturday at the Renegades.
Sat in Section 109 behind Yankees’ dugout. Seats 3 and 4. Better seats than last year in the front row behind home plate. Higher up so you have a better view and the Delia’s sit in seats 1 and 2. They have been season ticket holders since the park opened and have their names on metal labels on the back of their seats. Nice couple and the husband is a card collector, so he got nerdy with my buddy about that. I’d recommend getting the same seats if you go there in the future.
Nice park, good people working there all around. It was bobble head of the mascots night. Mascots are a raccoon and a skunk. Don’t remember his name, but the wife (they are married) is Rosie, because she smells like roses, not like other skunks. I don’t know what the bobble head looks like, because my buddy is giving them to his grand-daughters and we didn’t take them out of the box. Bought a 42 dollar hat for my wife that is Hawaiian flower design. They can sell NY logo’d gear because mlb sucks.
The game was good. Not much hitting, but the Renegades’ defense looked pretty good. Lots of stellar defensive plays. I thought it was odd that Thurman Munson was the starting pitcher and Yogi relieved him. At least that’s what their numbers told me.
They won.
Da Bronx was also a delight, starting from the train at Beacon, where the cop asked why we were leaving so early. When I responded that the booze was cheaper outside the stadium, he gave us a thumbs up.
We did get cheaper booze at the Yankee Tavern on 161st, after picking up a NY logo hat for 10 bucks at the corner. I forgot to ask if he also sold Rolexes for $25 dollars. We stopped at the tavern, because we were going to the bodega around the corner for brown bag booze and saw three people at the end of the bar with jerseys with no name on the back and said this is our kinda place. They meet there every Friday and Saturday and there’s about 15 that commandeer the corner of the bar.
After an appropriate number of double bourbons, we made our way to the stadium and got the CC commemorative HOF plaque, which is also still in the box, so I have no idea how cheap it looks. Probalby very. Two Japanese students from Doug’s neighborhood of NoCal sat next to us, front row of section 315. They’re studying English so they will have advantage in business when they pick a real career. We had fun talking to them and bought them kosher dogs, because it seemed like we should. Bar right behind us, and we ran into some new friends from the train there. Rained a little but the Yankees won, and we had fun talking to all the various new friends we met.

Sorry for formatting. Didn't come over on the cut and paste.

Plus Ca$hole sucks.

Forgot to mention one of the guys at the Yankee Tavern said he knew the mad king (looked old enough that it could have been grade school). He said HAL is actually a good guy, but is only in it for the money. He said Hank was a real piece of shit.

That’s one hell of a Haiku, Rufus

The whole rodeo!

It's a bullpen game now. It's a managers game now. The Yankees will lose. And that isn't some reverse juju. It's just fact we lose these games.

Pocono Steve said...

Starting to feel like a programmed loss.

TheWinWarblist said...

Brave move by Boone to try and let Cruz find the strike zone.

I'm going to listen to the Detroit radio team.

TheWinWarblist said...

The Detroit radio team is shocked. Flabbergasted. It's appalling.

A little league team could have pitched and played better.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

I've been eating dinner. Did anything happen whilst I was gone?

TheWinWarblist said...

It's all still in front of us ...

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Like an oncoming train?

Hinkey Haines said...

So it IS possible to retire the side without giving up a boatload runs on because of walks & wild pitches. Good to know.

Hinkey Haines said...

I mean, for other teams.

TheWinWarblist said...

Umm, why did Boone intentionally walk Spencer Torkelson in the 7th?

TheWinWarblist said...

We were already down by 5 runs!?

TheWinWarblist said...

EVEN THE DINGLER IS PILING ON!!! FOR FUCKIN" FUCK'S SAKE!!!

BTR999 said...

It’s great to see things are back to normal

ranger_lp said...

That was pretty much embarrassing…

AboveAverage said...

I’m honestly relieved that Boone questioned that play at first.

Such great management.

Oh…. and the Yankees Lose !

I tried to warm you that the last two weeks were a mirage, but no. No one listens to me. Nope. Not ever.
