Our man in Tampa: Alphonso's Grapefruit Photo Blog Day 3

Wednesday, he took us day-clubbing with Hal and Hank.

Thursday, he made peace between Andy Pettitte and George Mitchell.

What's up Friday?

7:05 a.m. I sleep in today. What a pleasant surprise to find that Melky has been up an hour, shaved and showered, and he's made a special breakfast.

9:07 a.m. Belly full, Melky and I cab to Legends Field where, to our delight, who is taking spring practice cuts but thuhhhhhhhh Voice of the Yankees, John Sterling!

10:20 a.m. During practice, John is all business. But later, he takes me up to his lavish personal office and unveils a hidden artistic side.

11:05 a.m. Oops. Had to pee. I was looking for an aspirin. Not sure John wants me to know about this. (Don't tell George Mitchell!)

11:49 a.m. We check on Suzyn, who's looking great, really making strides, after last fall's post-season collapse against the Indians.

12:00 p.m. John, Suzyn and I head to the venerable Lowe's Broadcast Booth of Tampa, where the Yankee Radio Network's sound engineers have already donned their hi-tech headsets.

12:45 p.m. I'm nervous. It's almost game time. Biggest surprise to me: How the microphones have changed!

4:30 p.m. Game over. Tough loss for the Yanks. I'm wreeling from the excitment. John hurries home to let out "Muffin," a beloved personal gift from Hideki Matsui.

9:00 p.m. Ahhh. Taking it easy. Some guys got it made. From his front porch, John can sit back and take in thuuuuuuh view...!
