Major League Baseball is investigating more than 40 cases involving Dominican Republic prospects suspected of lying about their age upon signing professional contracts.
Folks, it's all a lie.
Welcome to the Dominican Republic... a plantation machine that buys and sells chattle, fuels corrupt cartels run by macho former players who function as community sperm banks, and rewards a few miserable excuses for humanity with hysterically insane amounts of money and whatever comes with it.
And it's a lie.
Those teens with the Trumpian contracts? The Wily Mo Penas and the Ricardo Aramboles? They were the bait -- the 14-year-old prostitutes on the stoop -- used to lure in the great gobs of money that kept the system greased. It could have gone to American players -- specificially African-American athletes who long ago were elbowed off the table -- but baseball didn't care.
And now the steroid issue hangs over Roger Clemens and Alex Rodriguez?

Does anybody actually think the D.R. stars who systematically lied about their ages at the urging of their godfathers haven't also been using steroids? Hello-o-o? Folks, drug cartels are known for tight lips. Think the Republic has a strong witness protection program?

Several Latino players have said they lied about their ages in recent years, including Vladimir Guerrero and Miguel Tejada.
Hm-mm. Imagine for a moment being Miguel Tejada...
From the gitgo, you lied about your age. You were always a fraud. Scouts slimed your path through the minors, because they believed you were 17, but you were actually much older than the competition. Meanwhile, you were taking injections. Wow. Not only were you cheating about your age, but you were cheating about the drugs. And if you didn't keep up payments to the right people, they might just tell on you.
Imagine that scenario, and then ask this question:
If the big man demands that you throw a game, do you have any leverage to say no?
Folks, this sucks.It's all a lie.
And it's Bud Selig's lie. Bud Selig's legacy.
Eighteen million dollars a year they pay him... for what? To look the other way, I guess.
Maybe they pay him a dollar per lie.
(For the record, Jesus Montero is from Venezuela, so maybe he's not 30, after all.)

What's wrong with people lying about their age? I do it all the time.
Wait, a guy who was a used car dealer and then a baseball team owner is a sleazy, no-good liar? What's this world coming to when even a man like Bud Selig can let you down?
so it is not okay for the ballplayers to lie about their age but Yankee broadcaster is allowed to? Why? The man was born in 1938and was going on 50 back in 1988 when he worked for the Braves and Hawks. Wikipedia is a joke for allowing him to get away with it. I, for one, thinks he looks his age as well.
