Tonight, Yank fans shall sleep uneasily, wondering what is wrong.
Today's 4-3 victory over Tampa held all the ingredients of a classic, 6 to 7 second John Sterling WinWarble.
Home game. Come-from-behind win. Mariano save. Everything but a walk-off.
And yet, when the moment came, John warbled a measily 5.19 seconds.

Uh, yeah, this one is frightening. My NYSI model predicted a 6.49 second win warble, a full 1.3 seconds below its actual number. Maybe he wanted the strikeout really badly, or maybe things (being called out in the media, age, etc) have just caught up with John.
The time to worry is now.
Like a fly ball to the warning track, I thought the warble sounded great coming off the bat. Suprised to see it came in at the low 5s.
I agree with adam that John can come across as disapointed when Mariano doesnt finish with a strikeout. Me thinks he may have hit a higher octave after the K for the second out than he did on the warble. Come on John, we cant always have a sundae AND the topping of our choice.
Cashman is on a 6 comment losing streak. Hes terrible.
