John Lester is Boston's new "It Girl"

One hot and saucy pin-up always rules Boston's Damon-Affleck Star Index, and this month's centerfold is John Lester, who Yank turncoat Pete Abe is annointing (via the old journo asking-of-the-question trope) "AL's best pitcher."

We've lugged our butts a long way from watching Drew Barrymore -- the Botox of the Bosocks -- tongue-wash that Late Night mini-Leno in the country club seats of Fever Pitch... the Triumph des Willens of Boston baseball. So now the Vargas boy is John Lester.

Well, it gets warm at the top. Ask Nomar Garci-pariah. His kids play soccer. Ask Ted Williams. He's still viewing the world from the bottom of an Igloo cooler. Somewhere, Flash Gordon is rereading his Stephen King novel, and Dice-K's deportation papers are always in the mail -- one shellacking from being delivered, postage due.

Is John Lester the AL's best pitcher? I dunno. Talk amongst yourselves. Pete Abe strikes again. This spring, the Florida Yankee-hating Society will follow Lester around like cocker-spaniels waiting for a Milkbone. Yeesh. It'll be as if they never saw a two-piece bathing suit.
